It is certainly this lack of clarity which leads to the current situation. Flashpoints are usually given without any mention of either the open or closed cup aspects or the make of apparatus. Amongst the thousand or so organic substances listed in Part Two, more than one hundred of them mention oc and cc , which enables comparisons to be made. A = +14 cm3 mol-1 for both the forward and the reverse reaction. The current situation is exemplified by a study of clinical staff exposures in cardiac angiography at the Montreal Heart Institute (Renaud, 1992). Some additional experiments relevant to the data in Figure k are suggested by the preceding discussion. In particular, if the corrosion sites also act as the recombination centers that control current onset in the absence of sulfide ions (as discussed earlier) then there are no oxidized recombination centers before exposure to light. In that case a CdS electrode biased at a voltage below the saturated portion of curve 1 in Figure k would show a higher initial current than indicated in curve 1 and then decay in time to the curve 1 value. Abstract The current situation in the pharmaceutical industry is discussed, when the traceability of measurement (analytical) results to certified values of pharmacopoeial reference standards is required, without evaluating their uncertainties. It is shown that the evaluation of measurement uncertainty is necessary for understanding the level of confidence of the analytical results and their comparability, particularly during preparation and characterisation of the reference standards.

It should be noted that, in general, the electrochemical equilibrium is not fully attained in fuel cells.
