Minimum reportable

Complete Part A of this project by determining about 10 energies at various values of ot over a range that is sufficient to prove that C is a well-behaved function of ot with a minimum. Report the least upper bound of E and the value of ot at which it is found. 

Minimum reportable concentration. The lower concentration limit for a method is usually measured by determining the detection limit. This is basically an instrument signal to noise ratio, and it does not include calibration effects. At low concentrations the calibration process often has a major adverse effect on precision. Detection limits are useful for comparing the inherent sensitivity of methods, but they are not realistic indexes of measurable concentrations in routine analysis. 

We suggest using a new parameter, the minimum reportable concentration, defined as the concentration whose confidence band just includes zero (5.). This parameter is obtained by reducing the value of signal Yo, figure 4, until the band around predicted concentration, Xo, just touches zero. Confidence bands are direct precision data, and the maximum reportable concentration can be defined as the maximum concentration at which the method yields adequate precision ( ) (excluding measurements near the minimum reportable concentration, where poor precision is unavoidable). Table III shows RCB for the determination of iron in water by AAS. The analyst may consider a RCB of say, 15% to be adequate. The maximum reportable concentration would be 15 pg/ml from a single, weighted least-squares curve, and 20 pg/ml by the multiple-curve method. Samples containing > 20 pg/ml should be diluted to 1-10 pg/ml and analyzed using standards containing 0.05 - 15 pg/mL. (Note that it is always better to include a standard above the maximum desired concentration. The precision of this standard measurement will be poor, but poor data at this level are better than none.)... 

The current situation is exemplified by a study of clinical staff exposures in cardiac angiography at the Montreal Heart Institute (Renaud, 1992). Extensive measurements of staff exposures were made using thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) for 15,000 procedures in three cardiac catheterization laboratories over a 5 y period (1984 to 1988). The TLDs were located under the protective apron at the waist and at the collar outside and above the apron. Readings were made at three-month intervals, with a minimum reportable value of 0.2 mSv. Average values (in mSv per y) for various groups of staff, based on measurements with TLDs worn at the collar, are given in Table 3.3. 

The first two columns fix the relevant distortion. The third column indicates the spin S of the excited states considered. The excitation energies in the last two columns are referred to the adiabatic energy of each specific minimum, reported in Table 3...

The C-C bond distances calculated for these structures are compared in Table 12, and it appears that while there is reasonable agreement between the 4-31G/6-31G and the MINDO/3 calculations for the geometries of both structures 61 and 65, structure 64, the second minimum reported by Hehre and coworkersresembles 61 more than it does 65. The two methods diverge completely in the calculated energy for 65, which is an energy maximum in the 4-31G/6-31G calculations and the lowest energy minimum in the MINDO/3 calculation.

Because the only toxin that had a previously established TSS was T-2, it was used to determine a constant to calculate estimated TSS for other toxins. Although the relationship between the TSS concentration at the 5 L/day consumption and the minimum reported LD50 may not be the same for all toxins, this was the value used in our calculations, that is... 

In the absence of experimental data, the crude correlation of Fig. 13.11 can be used for preliminary design if phase viscosities are no greater than 1 cp. The data points correspond to essentially minimum reported HETS values for RDC and RPC units with the exponent on column diameter set arbitrarily at one third. 

Minimum reporting criteria defined by ICH for initial reports are an identifiable patient a suspect medicinal product an identifiable reporting source and an event or outcome that is serious, unexpected, and a reasonably suspected causal relationship. 

Once studies have received IND approval, further protocols can be added with little trouble. Of course, the IND lays down responsibilities for sponsors, which include minimum reporting times for adverse events and completion of qualification forms for investigators, etc. These steps add to the administrative load of the clinical drug development process. It is generally thought that it would be a bold company that submitted a NDA to the FDA without the FDA s prior involvement via an IND. However, this has been done successfully in the past and will probably occur again.

In a review of 71 case series the weighted mean time to event and the minimum reported time and dose of zoledronate, pamidronate, and oral bisphosphonates was calculated [13 ]. The mean time to osteonecrosis after zoledronate treatment was 1.8 years and the minimum 10 months after pamidronate, the mean time was 2.8 years and the minimum 1.5 years after oral bisphosphonate therapy, the mean time was 4.6 years and the minimum 3 years. The factors that affected the risk of osteonecrosis and the time to event were invasive dental procedures and other co-morbid factors, such as advanced age, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, use of glucocorticoids, and vitamin D deficiency.
