Upgrader applications

Distillation and related vapor-liquid processes are by far the most widely used molecular separation processes in the petroleum, natural gas, petrochemical, and chemical industries, as mentioned earlier. It is highly unlikely that adsorption will ever rival distillation in frequency of use, but adsorption will continue to m e inroads into its domain. Adsorption s serious competition for the separations for which it is now used would seem to come chiefly from membrane-based processes, and especially fixed-membrane processes. For example, Monsanto s Prism hollow-fiber-based process has been commercialized in a number of hydrogen-upgrading applications, and a growing number of other applications are being pursued. [Pg.690]

Nanostructured materials, i.e. PP filled with an extra-pure synthetic fluorohectorite modified by means of interlayer exchange of sodium cations for protonated octadecylamine NHj (ODA) in a weight concentration of maximum 6%, may find new and upgraded application in the electrical and electronic industry, replacing conventional insulation. ... [Pg.289]

Gelling is influenced differently by cations k-c. needs K -cations, i-c. needs Ca -cations. These cations, as well as added sucrose, increase the gel strength. Interactions by direct association between K-c. and -in the pure state- nongelling galactoman-nans (- locust bean gum) leads to the formation of elastic gels with properties for upgraded applications. The K- as well as the v-c. are reactive with... [Pg.33]

Work has been in progress on the digitalization of reactor protection system. Complete digital systems for these applications are available, after completion of a process of development - just as was standard practice for the hardwired system that precedent them - and a qualification period lasting several years outside the plants with associated licensing. A number of subsystems are now available for backfitting and upgrading application. [Pg.74]

The multiple advantages of our process reengineering are improvement of the acquisitioii/analysis speed (times 4), the low cost as this in house application is based on personal computers, the easy and minimal cost upgrades can be performed by engineers and technicians, and an immediate inspection feedback implementation. [Pg.1009]

Viscosity changes make conventional water pipe sizing tables useless these must be upgraded by the application of appropriate correction factors. [Pg.171]

The primary pump types for the chemical industry for horizontal and vertical inline applications have been standardized in ANSI B-123, ANSI Std B73.1M for horizontal end suction centrifugal pumps, and ANSI B73.2M for vertical inline centrifugal pumps. The standards are in a continuous process of upgrading to suit requirements of industry and the manufacturers. The API-610 standard is primarily a heavy duty application, such as is used for the refinery and chemical industry requirements. This is the only true world pump [21] standard, although the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is studying such an improved design [20]. [Pg.161]

The great benefit of the heat pump is the possibility of upgrading the heat as compared to the other methods, and is popular in swimming-pool applications, where the heat recovered from the exhaust air can be used to heat the incoming fresh air and the pool water and to provide hot water for showers and washing purposes. [Pg.466]

Good quality steel is used and electrozinc is preferred for washing machines. Steel is pretreated with iron phosphate for economy electrozinc with a fine crystal zinc phosphate. No primer is normally used 25-40/im of finish is applied direct to metal. The required properties are best obtained with a thermosetting acrylic or polyester/melamine-formaldehyde finish. Self-reactive acrylics are usually preferred these resins contain about 15 Vo 7V-butoxymethyl acrylamide (CH2=CH —CO —NH —CHj—O —C4H,) monomer and cure in a manner similar to butylated melamine-formaldehyde resins. Resistance or anti-corrosive properties may be upgraded by the inclusion of small amounts of epoxy resin. Application is usually by electrostatic spray application from disc or bell. Shapes are complex enough to require convected hot-air curing. Schedules of 20 min at 150-175°C are... [Pg.631]

Selective gas permeation has been known for generations, and the early use of palladium silver-alloy membranes achieved sporadic industrial use. Gas separation on a massive scale was used to separate U from U using porous (Knudsen flow) membranes. An upgrade of the membranes at Oak Ridge cost 1.5 billion. Polymeric membranes became economically viable about 1980, introducing the modern era of gas-separation membranes. H2 recovery was the first major application, followed quickly by acid gas separation (CO2/CH4) and the production of N2 from air. [Pg.57]
