Under the International Drug Conventions, Member States are formally required to provide drug related information annually, as detailed by the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, to the Secretary General of the United Nations (i.e. the Secretariat of UNODC). The Commission on Narcotic Drugs developed the Annual Reports Questionnaire (ARQ) to collect these data. 

The time for holding conferences and writing articles is over. The Secretary General of the United Nations, on September 24, 2007, put it this way "The time for doubt has passed." It is time to build those demonstration plants that will clearly establish the feasibility and costs of the various alternative energy systems. By Security Council resolution 687 the IAEA was entrusted, inter alia, with the task of carrying out immediate on-site inspections of Iraq s nuclear capabilities based on Iraq s declarations and on the designation of additional locations by the Special Commission established pursuant to Paragraph 9(b) of that resolution. Pursuant to the resolution, Iraq was to submit to the Secretary General of the United Nations and to the Director General of the IAEA within 15 days of adoption of the resolution, a declaration of the locations, amounts and types of nuclear weapons, nuclear weapons-usable material and any subsystems or components and any research, development, support or manufacturing facilities related to nuclear weapons or nuclear weapons-usable material.

Under Article XIV (Entry into force), the Treaty will enter into force 180 days after the 44 States listed in annex 2 to the Treaty have deposited their instruments of ratification with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, but in no case earlier than two years after its opening for signature . This list comprises the States that formally participated in the 1996 session of the conference on Disarmament, and that appear in Table 1 of the December 1995 edition of Nuclear Research Reactors in the World and Table 1 of the April 1996 edition of Nuclear Power Reactors in the World , both compiled by the International Atomic Energy Agency. 

If the Treaty has not entered into force three years after the date of the anniversary of its opening for signature , the Secretary-General of the United Nations, as Depositary of the Treaty, could, at the request of a majority of States that had ratified it, convene a conference to examine the situation and to decide by consensus what measures consistent with international law may be undertaken to accelerate the ratification process in order to facilitate the Treaty s early entry into force. 

As Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations, put it at the Business Day of the Summit Business leaders now understand that companies can only succeed long-term if they put values at the heart of their business and address social and environmental issues in a sustainable way .
