Turbo-Tray Dryers The turbo-tray diyer is a continuous diyer consisting of a stack of rotating annular shelves in the center of which turbo-type fans revolve to circulate the air over the shelves. Wet material enters through the roof, falling onto the top shelf as it rotates beneath the feed opening. After completing one revolution, the mate-... [Pg.1214]

To be classed as a fan, the work per unit mass on the gas must be less than 25 kj kg" above this value it is called a turbo compressor. [Pg.742]

Compressed air Air at a pressure greater than the atmospheric pressure at that location. In the case of a fan, if the outlet pressure exceeds 30 kPa it is classified as a turbo compressor. [Pg.1423]

Spray nozzle type plays an important role in the success of agrochemical application. For broadcast applications to soil, flat fan nozzles should be used. Newer spray tips such as the DG TeeJet, XR TeeJet, Turbo TeeJet and similar nozzles supplied by Lechler and Hardy have provided acceptable results in a number of studies. For a given nozzle type, the lower the application pressure, the larger is the spray droplet size and the less potential for spray drift. Similarly, the closer the boom is positioned to the soil surface, the less is the potential for spray drift." Most applications are made with spray tips having 80° or 110° spray angles and boom heights of about 50 cm above the soil surface. [Pg.862]

The handling of sticky materials can present difficulties, and one type of dryer which is useful for this type of material is the turbo-dryer. As shown in Figure 16.30, wet solid is fed in a thin layer to the top member of a series of annular shelves each made of a number of segmental plates with slots between them. These shelves rotate and, by means of suitably placed arms, the material is pushed through a slot on to a shelf below. After repeated movements, the solid leaves at the bottom of the dryer. The shelves are heated by a row of steam pipes, and in the centre there are three or more fans which suck the hot air over the material and remove it at the top. [Pg.953]

The stove can be started and operated indoors with no exhaust fans and no odor of burning wood. We have taken the stove to India and the Philippines and cooked with the Turbo Stove in small villages and on conference room desks with no odor. While the Turbo Stove currently uses a 12 Volt 3 Watt blower, the power could come from stored compressed air, bellows, wind-up generators, photovoltaic, thermophotovoltaic, windup motors, thermoelectric or other sources. [Pg.695]

Figure 8.7 shows the droplet size spectra produced by nozzles in the study by Thornhill et al. (1995). They achieved lowest contamination by controlling pressure at 100 kPa, which, like the newer low-drift nozzles such the Turbo Teejet , produce larger spectra than standard flat fan atomisers. However, these settings simply shift the droplet size spectra out of the size range known to be most efficient for pesticides (e.g. Matthews, 1992 Knoche, 1994). The only way to reduce drift and maintain efficient dose transfer is to narrow the droplet spectrum with the optimum range illustrated using nozzles such as the Herbi rotary atomiser. [Pg.147]

For rotating shelf or disk dryers, the wet solid is supported on circular trays that rotate slowly in a fixed housing. The trays or shelves are cut out in the center and have radial slots. In the TURBO-DRYER version, the shelves are mounted rigidly to a single vertical shaft. The fan assembly fits within the shaft assembly and can rotate independently of the shaft. Hot air or another drying medium is fed from suitably designed air distributors mounted on the side and is exhausted from the roof. [Pg.865]

In a ring-plate turbo-dryer, the product flows in a manner similar to the turbo drier through the drying sections. However, the drying gas is distributed over the product by centrally mounted turbine fans. [Pg.364]
