Tumblers

The Hartford-Empire 28 is a press-and-blow machine used to make articles such as drinking glasses (tumblers). It uses paste molds and the ware is rotated to avoid the mold seams jars with screw threads cannot be produced. The product leaves the machine as an almost closed, hoUow object and is finished by severing and fire-polishing with a bum-off machine. [Pg.308]

Example of an HACCP System. The HACCP system can be used to ensure production of a safe cooked, sHced turkey breast with gravy, which has been vacuum packaged in a flexible plastic pouch and subjected to a final heat treatment prior to distribution (37). Raw turkey breasts are trimmed, then injected with a solution containing sodium chloride and sodium phosphate. Next, the meat is placed into a tumbler. After tumbling, the meat is stuffed into a casing, placed onto racks, and moved into a cook tank, where it is cooked to an internal temperature of at least 71.1°C (160°F). After... [Pg.33]

The drop shatter test indicates the resistance of a coal or coke to breakage on impact (see D440). A sample is dropped in a standard way a number of times from a specified height. Eor the tumbler test or abrasion index (ASTM D441), the coal or coke is rotated in a dmm to determine the resistance to breakage by abrasion (18). [Pg.233]

For most rapid mixing, in addition to diffusive (fine-scale) mixing, there should be a means by which large groups of particles are intermixed. This can be accomphshed by either the convective or the shear mechanism. A ribbon mixer illustrates the former, whereas a plain tumbler gives the latter. [Pg.1764]

Figure 19-9 7 and b (without broken-line portions) shows some unbaffled tumblers. [Pg.1764]

Several tumblers are available with separately driven internal rotating devices for breaking up agglomerates. The tumbler itself can be used for gentle blending it ag omerate breakdown is not reqmred. [Pg.1764]

The broken-line portions of Fig. 19-9 7 and b show some types of agglomerate-breakiug devices for tumblers. [Pg.1764]

Table 19-2 includes impacl velocities for some internal rotating devices in tumblers as well as other mixers. Contamination and wear problems of internal rotating devices are discussed under Performance Characteristics. ... [Pg.1764]

A metal tumbler would not crack because its elastic limit must be exceeded considerably before it fails. However, repetitions of thermal stress, when some plastic flow occurs on both heating and cooling cycles, can result in either cracking or so much deformation that a part becomes unserviceable. [Pg.267]

Strain the liquid ingredients and shake lightly with ice. Pour into a deep tumbler. Garnish with grapes sliced in half. Stir. [Pg.215]

Adsorption is determined by the depletion method using a Dohrmann DC 80 carbon analyzer. The mineral is contacted with the polymer solution and agitated with a mechanical tumbler for 24 hours, a time which has been verified to be sufficient for adsorption to be complete (9). A more detailed description of experimental procedures is given elsewhere (10). All the data reported in this study are taken in the plateau region of the adsorption isotherm. [Pg.228]
