You may not be able to fix it. Zirconium columns have a different chemical structure than silica. They are more pH resistant and can be used at elevated temperatures, but they run differently than a silica Ci8. First, find out if it has a chemically bonded tetraphosphonic acid chelator. If not, you may have to add a chelator to the mobile phase. If you are not getting sharp peaks, make sure you have made new inlet tubing specifically for this column. Old tubing can ruin the performance of a new column. Run a standard mix on both columns and see how they differ. This column can give you the ability to separate mixture that you can t separate on a reverse-phase silica column. [Pg.210]

Each laboratory should inform the medical staff about therapeutic and toxic concentration ranges, analytical method (when appropriate), action values, required sample volume, and collection tube specifications. [Pg.1249]

Whole Blood. It is recommended that the samples be cautiously handled from the start of the collection to maintain integrity and preclude the possibility of contamination, tampering, or mislabeling. All samples should be collected under the close supervision of a health care provider/ physician, and if possible, witnessed by an unbiased observer. Samples should be obtained as soon as possible following the suspected exposure. Additional follow-up samples may be obtained. Blood should be collected in 5 or 7 mL blood tubes. Specific methods may require specific types of tubes, such as purple-top (EDTA) tubes for plasma, or the red-top mbes for serum and vacuum-fill only (unopened). [Pg.503]

The third and the major intermediate, namely N4+ which is formed through reaction of N2+ with neutral nitrogen molecule (11), apparently also undergoes reactions with water similar to Reactions 1 and 2 to form N2H+ and H20+ ions. These reactions are also expected to be exothermic. The relative abundance of N4+ ion is found to be strongly dependent on the field strength within the discharge tube. Specifically, it is found that the relative abundance of N4+ decreases sharply at current densities above... [Pg.59]

Shapiro (1977) defined the speed index, S = ulc, similar to die Mach number in gas dynamics, and demonstrated different cases of subcritical (5 < 1) and supercritical (S > 1) flows. It has been shown experimentally in simple experiments with compliant tubes that gradual reduction of the downstream pressure progressively increases the flow rate until a maximal value is reached (Holt, 1969 Conrad, 1969). The one-dimensional theory demonstrates that for a given tube (specific geometry and wall properties) and boundary conditions, the maximal steady flow that can be conveyed in a collapsible tube is attained for 5 = I (e.g., when u = c) at some position along the tube (Dawson Elliott, 1977 Shapiro, 1977 Elad et id., 1989). In this case, the flow is said to be choked and further reduction in downstream pressure does not affect the flow upstream of the flow-limiting site. Much of its complexity, however, is still unresolved either experimentally or theoretically (Kamm et al., 1982 Kanun and Pedley, 1989 Elad et al., 1992). [Pg.89]

If the patient has an enteral feeding tube, specific requirements have to be taken into consideration (see Sects. 5.4.3 and 37.6.3). [Pg.79]

Per product the specific pump (tubing) parameters and any other adjustable variables should be well documented, for instance pump speed, pump tubing specifications, type of pump head and specifications of extension tubings for the suction side and for the dosing side. [Pg.640]

Accounting that supercritical water and carbon dioxide are the most widely used fluids and that the majority of experiments were performed in circular tubes, specifics of heat transfer and pressure drop, including generalized correlations, will be discussed in this paper based on these conditions. Specifics of heat transfer and pressure drop at other conditions and/or for other fluids are discussed in the book by Pioro and Duffey (2007). [Pg.798]
