API. American Petroleum Institute writes specifications for carbon and alloy steel piping used in the oil and gas industry, which comprises line pipe, drill pipe, casing and tubing. These are covered in API specifications 5CT (casing and tubing), 5D (drill pipe) and 5L (line pipe). Contained in these specifications are various embedded materials grades. See Figure 2-6. [Pg.20]

Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers for General Piefineiy Seivices, API Standard 660, 4th ed., 1982, is published by the American Petroleum Institute to supplement both the TEMA Standards and the ASME Code. Many companies in the chemical and petroleum processing fields have their own standards to supplement these various requirements.
