Truth and beauty

Why is DMT a less valid path to God or transcendence than a Gregorian chant, Baha i prayer, or Melungeon meditation How can we say that a mystical experience triggered by prayer is superior in revealing truth and beauty than the experience triggered by drugs or abnormal electrical firing in the brain s temporal lobes And what about people who both pray and meditate and explore with DMT ...

The more I study the system, the more truth and beauty I see in it, and it is very lamentable the G.D. should have come to an end, which, virtually, it has done by this dismal exposure.

It is often the scientist s experience that he senses the nearness of truth when such connections are envisioned. A connection is a step toward simplification, unification. Simplicity is indeed often the sign of truth and a criterion of beauty. 

To our science women I have a few words to say. Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all you need to know, but you seem to prefer truth to beauty, at least that pale semblance of truth which drips in honeyed words from the mouths of bored lecturers. A little application of the rouge of Hu-fuan-chang t...d ex aq. p.c. will obtain you a better home, a larger family, and a much more assured income than a vain tickling of the receptive areas of the cerebrum with so-called wisdom of Lavoisier, Dalton, and Marat. You have come to the university to study Science, you say The proper study of mankind — and womankind too — is man scientius.33... 

You may object that by speaking of simplicity and beauty I am introducing aesthetic criteria of truth, and / frankly admit that / am strongly attracted by the simplicity and beauty of the mathematical schemes which nature presents us. You must have felt this too the almost frightening simplicity and wholeness of the relationship, which nature suddenly spreads out before... 

We would like to dedicate this book to Chemistry students everywhere. May their quest to full understanding of this subject lead them to the discovery of the truth and the beauty of Chemistry. 

The second family in Table 10.2 contains the "heavy electron", the muon and the muon neutrino, and the charm and the strange quarks. The third family contains the tau particle, the tau electron, and the two quarks referred to as top (or truth) and bottom (or beauty). These quarks can only be produced in high energy particle reactions. 

In architecture, site and design are inseparably linked to produce a structure that focuses on the lamps of truth, power, beauty, life, and memory, as delineated by John Ruskin. These ideals have in some profound ways become the palimpsest for contemporary architects, such as Peter Eisenman and Daniel Libeskind, demonstrating that any site contains not only presences, but the memory of previous presences and the immanences of a possible presence (Eisenman, 2004, p. 207). In these structures built to commemorate the Holocaust and the tragedy of 9-11, history haunts the visitors the past informs the present that prepares the participants for the future. 

Second, Max Dresden, who was both my thesis advisor and loyal friend. As Jay was the perfect teacher of high school physics, so Max was the quintessential physics professor. Max opened my eyes to the deej) mystery we call the universe, and taught me that the path to truth is indistinguishable from the path to beauty. The seminal idea and outline of this book-its major themes, chapters, and overall organization -benefitted greatly from Max s experience and wise counsel. I have followed our bible of ideas ever since Max and I lovingly crafted a skeletal version of it prior to our first meeting with a potential publisher over a decade ago.
