In 1989, the estimated United States consumption of synthetic polyisoprene was 51,000 metric tons, and of natural mbber 890,000 metric tons (84). Samples for laboratory analysis need to be representative. The easiest way to take a representative sample of grain grown on the farm is to take it during harvest. Several 500 g samples should be taken from each truckload and bulked. The bulk should then be mixed thoroughly and a 500 g sample drawn. Mixed feed should be sampled as it is discharged from the mixer, bulked and sampled as with grain. 

In the United States, two ammonia pipelines deliver ammonia to the Mississippi delta and to the Texas and Oklahoma panhandle region. Direct sales by basic producers are generally at wholesale prices.
