Trim, term

A cocurrent evaporator train with its controls is illustrated in Fig. 8-54. The control system applies equally well to countercurrent or mixed-feed evaporators, the princip difference being the tuning of the dynamic compensator/(t), which must be done in the field to minimize the short-term effects of changes in feed flow on product quality. Solid concentration in the product is usually measured as density feedback trim is applied by the AC adjusting slope m of the density function, which is the only term related to x. This recahbrates the system whenever x must move to a new set point. 

Multi-Port This term refers to any vaWc or manifold of s ah es with more than one inlet or outlet. For throttling control, the three-way body is used for blending (two inlets, one outlet) or as a dh ertor (one inlet, two outlets), A three-way S ah e is most commonly a special globelike body with special trim that allows flow both o cr and under the plug. Two rotaiw s ah es and a pipe tee can also be used. Special three-, four-, and fh e-way ball- ah e designs are used for switching applications. 

You want to control the flow rate of a liquid in a transfer line at 350 gpm. The pump in the line has the characteristics shown in Fig. 8-2, with an 5 in. impeller. The line contains 150 ft of 3 in. sch 40 pipe, 10 flanged elbows, four gate valves, and a 3 x 3 control valve. The pressure and elevation at the entrance and exit of the line are the same. The valve has an equal percentage trim with the characteristics given in Table 10-3. What should the valve opening be to achieve the desired flow rate (in terms of percent of total stem travel) The fluid has a viscosity of 5cP and a SG of 0.85. 

A term which generally applies to vulcanised rubber unfit for any other use than reclaiming or grinding to crumb rubber. In the rubber factory scrap may also refer to unvulcanised trimmings which can be reprocessed.

Chamcteristics. By changing the shape of the plug and the seat in the valve, different relationships between stem position and flow area can be attained. The common flow characteristics used are linear trim valves and equal-percentage trim valves as shown in Fig. 7.7. The term equal percentage comes from the slope of the /Ji, curve being a constant fraction off. 

This step is evidently not required for ribbons, apart from edge trimming and cutting the wafers from the sheets. This is considered to be a major advantage over ingot technology in terms of costs.

Many tricks have been applied (trim pulses, z filters, gradients, etc.) to remove these antiphase terms, leaving only the pure phase Ia and Ib terms (Fig. 9.43, right). For example, a z filter is a 90 — A — 90° sequence that puts the desired magnetization on the z axis and then allows a bit of evolution to occur for the undesired terms ... 

The mixed wood and bark residues burned directly are collectively termed hog fuel. Over the past decade, there has been a trend to channel more and more of the cleaner, drier, and larger-sized mill residues into raw materials for products. The coarse wood residues (slabs, trim, edgings, etc.) are chipped and sent to pulp mills. Also, considerable sawdust now is being pulped instead of being burned for fuel. Some of the residues, including shavings, also are used for particleboard. This means that hog fuel contains the less desirable, dirtier, and wetter forms of waste.
