Flow allowance

We propose a physical model, being based on the variation of the magnetic flow, allowing to determine defects characteristics. Some is the material and some is the geometry of the product, the presence of a defect allocates the flow in the straight section of the solenoid. The theoretical model proposed allows to find defects characteristics from the analysis of the impedance variation. [Pg.349]

Processing PC resins by extmsion or injection-molding methods requires melt temperatures of 290—320°C. High melt viscosity at low shear rates prevents mold flash and drool. At injection shear rates, apparent viscosities decrease, and easy melt flow allows manufacture of large, complex parts. [Pg.270]

Very stable and easy to control. Has no two-phase flow. Allows low tower skirt height. This type is expensive, however. [Pg.74]

Many of the above factors that affect column operation are due to vapor flow conditions being either excessive or too low. Vapor flow velocity is dependent on column diameter. Weeping determines the minimum vapor flow required while flooding determines the maximum vapor flow allowed, hence column capacity. Thus, if the column diameter is not sized properly, the column will not perform well. Not only will operational problems occur, the desired separation duties may not be achieved. [Pg.180]

In the process industries hf is calculated for the maximum flow rate and the NPSH at normal flow allowed for by using the formula... [Pg.505]

Any given machine will have minimum and maximum allowable steam flows. In the case of extraction and induction machines, there will be minimum and maximum flows allowable in each turbine section. These minimum and maximum flows are determined by the physical characteristics of individual turbines and specified by the turbine manufacturer. [Pg.472]

Figure 23.24 Revising the deaerator steam flow allows the steam flows to be updated. Figure 23.24 Revising the deaerator steam flow allows the steam flows to be updated.
If a steam turbine generates electricity, then the flow through the turbine can be varied within the minimum and maximum flows allowed by the machine. If a steam turbine is connected directly to a drive (e.g. a back-pressure turbine driving a large pump), then there is likely to be no flexibility to change the flowrate through the steam turbine as this is fixed by the power requirements of the process machine. [Pg.499]

Increasing the air density increases the GT inlet air mass flow. For a given stoichiometric fuel-to-air-ratio and a given combustion temperature, increased air mass flow allows increased fuel flow, resulting in increased GT power output. Additionally, compressor efficiency increases with decreased air temperatures, resulting in less parasitic compressor shaft work consumed and greater net turbine power output. Therefore, TIC increases net incremental power output faster than incremental fuel consumption, resulting in improved overall fuel efficiency (reduced heat rate) see Fig. 24-64. [Pg.56]

Creates both vertical and horizontal groundwater flow, allowing penetration of low-permeability horizontal layers. [Pg.1115]

Fibrous mat type filters include the frequently used paper (cellulose) fiber filter, for example, the Whatman paper filter, and glass fiber filters. A common fibrous mat filter used for sample collection and air cleaning is known as the HEPA filter (/zigh efficiency particulate air filter) and is made of a combination of cellulose and mineral fibers. A widely used type of fibrous mat filter is the high-volume filter, commonly referred to as Hi-Vol, shown in Fig. 11.56. A modification of the Hi-Vol filter to increase the total air flow allows the collection of sufficient particulate matter in relatively short time periods (e.g., 2 h) to cany out chemical analysis this is important for studies of the diurnal variation of various chemical components of the aerosol as well as for minimizing sampling artifacts (Fitz el ai, 1983). [Pg.609]

Nanowires can also be deposited from a flowing liquid causing them to lie in the same direction and forming arrays. Changing the direction of flow allows an overlay of a second layer, and such arrays can be used for various electronic devices such as transistors and diodes. The thrust of this type of research is aimed at miniaturization, and ultimately with producing a molecular computer. [Pg.433]

Series flow allows 50% greater gpm than parallel. [Pg.133]

Using IT lb/h, for fluid flow allows usage of this same equation for gas or liquid the density term p also applies to either. The velocity variable and density transport property factor must stay reasonably near a constant value for the Darcy equation to be valid. For a liquid fluid, p and v remain nearly constant. Thus, most any pipeline length may be calculated using a single application of Eq. (6.6). [Pg.222]

Using the control volume discussed in this chapter, derive the continuity equation for unsteady flow allowing for density variations in the flow. [Pg.80]

Take an oven-dried (electric oven, 105°C, 1 h) double-necked round-bottomed flask (500 mL) and add a stirrer bar, the tetratosylamide (2.59 g, 2.85 mmol), dry ethanol (5 mL) and dry tetrahydrofuran (60 mL). Purge the flask with nitrogen gas for 10 min. Equip the flask with a dry ice condenser fitted with a nitrogen inlet, cool the flask to -78°C in a dry ice/isopropanol slush bath and add dry ice and isopropanol to the dry ice condenser maintaining a strong nitrogen flow. Allow ammonia gas, from a cylinder, to condense into the cooled flask, until approximately 200 mL has been added. [Pg.63]

Knowledge of the anatomy of the blood supply of the brain is often helpful in understanding the etiology and mechanisms of TIA and stroke, which enable accurate targeting of acute treatment and secondary prevention. An awareness of the mechanisms underpinning the regulation of cerebral blood flow allows the clinician to identify patients at risk of stroke and assess the possible effects of treatments. [Pg.38]

Flow is close to plug flow, allowing high conversion to be achieved in a single reactor. [Pg.12]

This permit usually contains the volumetric flow allowed and the allowable concentration or poundage of listed materials that may be discharged. If your project increases anything in the permit, the plant must obtain a permit modification. Recently, agencies have begun to require Toxicity Studies to asses any impact on aquatic life. Such studies are lengthy and costly. [Pg.72]

Make specific allowances for distribution systems within the process area for the various utilities cooling water, high/low pressure steam/condensate, service water/air, nitrogen, instrument air, vent collection systems, etc. Lengths and sizes must be determined based on arrangement and flows. Allow at least 30 ft. of pipe from distribution system to each individual user. [Pg.258]
