Transmission word

The serial-out is realized as three serial lines that deliver a transmission word at intervals specified with register 4. A transmission word has a length of 20 bit and consists of two concatenated 10-bit words. Each transmission word is preceded by a start bit. The length of a bit is configurable with 5 bits of register 0. [Pg.97]

Depending on whether the on-chip PIDs are utilized or the FPGA external feedback loops are chosen, the semantics of the transmission word change. [Pg.97]

The serial-in is only used in the FPGA external feedback-loop mode. The transmission word length is 10 bit. The speed is the same as that of the sending port. Also, each transmission operation is preceded by a start bit. [Pg.98]

Using a Terminal. Dial-up terminals may also be used to access a vendor s databases however, the terminal, personal computer, word processor, or microcomputer must all be compatible with specific functionaHties. Eor example in order to access the DIALOG service these must all be TTY compatible have ASCII coding and be compatible for asynchronous transmission in full-duplex mode for communication through DIALNET,... [Pg.457]

Why do we use the word driver We tend to think that pumps are powered by r-r motors. However, some pumps are powered by internal combustion engines, or with turbines or hydraulic motors. Not always are pumps and drivers connected h a direct coupling. Some pumps are coupled through pulleys, chain drives, gearboxes or even transmissions. [Pg.142]

Continuous-Wave Transmission. Anadrill, a subsidiary of Schlumberger, markets a tool which produces a 12-Hz sinusoidal wave downhole. Ten-bit words representing data are transmitted by changing or maintaining the phase of the wave at regular intervals (0.66 s). A 180° phase change represents a 1, and phase maintenance represents a 0. [Pg.935]

Then, with data compression techniques (sending only changes for most of the words in the frame and rotating the data), an effective transmission rate of 10 bits/s can be achieved. [Pg.937]

The word hydraulics is based on the Greek word for water, the first used form of hydraulic power transmission. Initially, hydraulics covered the study of the physical behavior of water at rest and in motion. It has been expanded to include the behavior of all liquids, although it is primarily limited to the motion or kinetics of liquids. [Pg.584]

Over the years, GM and Ford have progressively raised their levels of demand for oxidative/thermal stability, to cater for cars with higher power and thus greater likelihood of high transmission temperatures. GM s latest designation is Dexron IID, and the latest Ford specification is M2C 33-G, commonly referred to as the Ford G fluid. The Daimler-Benz requirement is that a fluid should retain its frictional characteristics throughout its life (in other words, throughout the life of the car). Additive systems have been developed with properties acceptable to Daimler-Benz, however, and a universal ATF can now be blended. [Pg.861]

The one-pot multistep process has been named in various ways domino, cascade, tandem, timed, consecutive, transmissive, etc. Sometimes the word used does not describe the real meaning of the procedure in that there is no conformity between the customary use of the term and the chemical transformation. These terms were recently defined more pertinently [59]. [Pg.20]

While I feel that substances which only meet the abbreviated definition do not justify being called neurotransmitters, they will be treated as such in this text because this is the accepted practice and they are substances released from neurons to affect CNS function. Clearly, it is more important to distinguish between the different effects that a substance can produce when released from a nerve than to worry about what it is called. Nevertheless, it is unfortunate that the word neurotransmitter will inevitably be associated with the actual transmission of activity from one neuron to another and yet most of the substances we will be discussing do not actually do that. [Pg.31]

For an ideal conductor, no scattering occurs, and the transmission is given by T = 1. The quantum of conductance Go is obtained, indicating a maximum conductance. In other words, a perfect single-channel conductor between two electrodes has a finite, non-zero resistance. The exact interpretation of this result was provided by Imry [177], who associated the finite resistance with resistance arising at the interface between leads and the electrodes. [Pg.134]

The depth in the sample surface from which the PA signal comes depends on the beam chopping frequency. At low chopping frequencies spectral information comes from greater depths in the sample. In other words, if one speeds up the motor of the device, such as a fan blade, that is chopping the incident light beam, not only will S/N diminish, but the sample will also be probed at a shallower depth below its surface. This ability to yield subsurface spectral and thermal information is a peculiar advantage of PAS over reflectance and transmission spectroscopies that still remains to be widely exploited (5). [Pg.393]

Two-way radios allow a user to contact another user or group of users instantly on the same frequency, and to transmit voice or data without the need for wires. They use half-duplex communications, or communication that can be only transmitted or received they cannot transmit and receive simultaneously. In other words, only one person may talk, while other personnel with radio(s) can only listen. To talk, the user depresses the talk button and speaks into the radio. The audio then transmits the voice wirelessly to the receiving radios. When the speaker has finished speaking and the channel has cleared, users on any of the receiving radios can transmit, either to answer the first transmission or to begin a new conversation. In addition to carrying... [Pg.206]

Electronic Transmission Coefficient. The probability that the electron transfer will occur in the intersection region (in other words, the probability that the system will remain on the lower adiabatic surface on passing through the intersection region) is given by (36)... [Pg.121]

Whereas pain is used to refer to the total subjective phenomena associated with injury and suffering, nociception more specifically refers to the aspect of sensory transmission. Nociception is the more correct term for the experimental study of pain, because it is objectively measured through a behavior in animals and humans alike (e.g., withdrawal reflexes, verbal ratings). The actual subjective experiences are private and known to each subject alone. However, for the sake of convenience, the word pain will be used here to address both aspects. Similarly, the word analgesia, meaning the relief from pain, will be used in place of the more objective term antinociception. [Pg.295]

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) can provide detailed stmcture of zeolites. I use the word characterize or characterization for stmctural study on a unit cell scale, such as various kind of stmctural defects and basic stmctural units, and determine or determination for obtaining atomic coordinates within the unit cell for all the atoms of a crystal. A simple text or reviews for stmctural characterization of porous materials can be found in a book or review articles [1-6]. Now, we are in a new era, that is, we can determine new stmctures of micro- and mesoporous materials only by electron microscopy(EM), an area called electron crystallography (EC) [7-11]. [Pg.437]

This transmission method provides an image of a section through the crystal and as such enables the experimenter to study the three-dimensional distribution of defects. The beam from the spot of a fine-focus or microfocus source is collimated into a ribbon beam of width approximately 10 //m before the singlecrystal specimen. This provides an incident beam of width small compared with that of the base of the Borrmaim fan formed by extremes of the diffracted and transmitted beams with the crystal surface. [In other words, the beam width must... [Pg.185]

At room temperature, the amorphous Se (a-Se) films exhibit very slight but definite photodarkening. The effect consists of a decrease of transmission (—2% in magnitude) after illumination, which was spontaneously restored as excitation was switched off It was found that the restoration period increases with the arsenic concentration. In other words, the photoinduced changes are transient (dynamic) and not permanent. [Pg.98]
