In addition to understanding the PSM system and its implementation, in-hou e trainers need skills development training to enable tiiem to fulfill their roles effectively. Everyone has had the dismal experience of listening to speakers or teachers whose command of their subject may be excellent, but who are incapable of conveying it in a useful, much less interesting, manner. To help avoid this, be selective in recruiting in-house trainer candidates the best people for this task have confidence, enthusiasm, and an ability to communicate well. 

In the context of this book, the term trainer is meant to refer to an individual who designs and delivers training courses in or for an organization, the objectives of which have been set by the organization (with or without the input of the trainer). The role...

Having decided on the vacancies that need filling, determine the number of people needed for each role. This should be done in accordance with the number of mentees and mentors you are planning to recruit. Then you can draw up job descriptions and selection criteria for each of the vacancies. On the basis of the above, we recommend that you intersperse your lecturing with as much interactivity as possible - provide plenty of space for trainees to ask questions, discuss topics and engage in role-plays. Remember that they can learn as much or more from each other as from the trainer ...
