Titanium oxide films mesoporous

The key effect of oxide supports on the catalytic activities of metal particles is exerted through the interface between oxides and metal particles. The key objective of this study is to develop synthesis methodologies for tailoring this interface. Here, an SSG approach was introduced to modify the surface of mesoporous silica materials with ultrathin films of titanium oxide so that the uniform deposition of gold precursors on ordered mesoporous silica materials by DP could be achieved without the constraint of the low lEP of silica. The surface sol-gel process was originally developed by Kunitake and coworkers. This novel technology enables molecular-scale control of film thickness over a large 2-D substrate area and can be viewed as a solution-based... [Pg.62]

Photovoltaic cells based on the sensitization of mesoporous titanium dioxide by Ru(II) complex dyes in conjunction with the I.3 /U redox couple as a mediator have proved very efficient at exploiting this principle. In such systems, the ionic mediator travels back and forth by diffusion from the working electrode to the counterelectrode, to shuttle to the sensitizer the electrons that have gone through the electrical circuit [18, 21, 84]. Recently, solid-state devices have been described where the liquid electrolyte present in the pores of the nanocrystalline oxide film is replaced by a large-bandgap p-type semiconductor acting as a hole-transport medium [85 88]. [Pg.3793]

The tailored design of the titanium-coordinated surfactant and its application in an evaporation-induced self-assembly process followed by heat treatment enabled the preparation of periodic mesoporous silica-based films with a high loading and good dispersion of tetrahedral titanium atoms within the silica matrix. This approach is also feasible for a variety of other transition metal oxides. [Pg.456]

Also a titanium dioxide mesoporous film on indium tin oxide (ITO) was decorated with gold nanoparticles, and hemoglobin was immobilized on its surface in such a way to retain the secondary structure and biological activity. The Fe -PPIX redox couple was found at -0.29 V and exhibited electrocatalytic response for hydrogen peroxide in the 5.0-1000 pM range and limit of detection of 0.6 pM, with good stability and reproducibility [171]. [Pg.53]
