I win provide additional support for the introduction of self-determination as the central notion to consider for the regulation of relations among substate national groups in the next chapter, where 1 define nationhood and explain its relation to self-determination. 

The curves of Figure 5.14 show how the values of the fixed point a (r) and the anomalous dimension /1(t) depend on the choice of scale. Both a (r) and A(t) decrease monotonically as the value of the scale increases. To determine the proper threshold value t, in excess of which the propagator amplitude is self-similar for all values of the group parameter t, we must acquire independent information about the expected asymptotic behavior of the effective coupling function such as, for example, the correct limiting value (at t oo) of the coupling function. One possibility is that the onset of self-similarity will become apparent if one selects a sufficiently large value of the scale. Implementation of this notion requires an extrapolation of our calculated results to infinite values of t, a procedure that leads to the results (t oo) 0.95 and X(z co) 0.12.

Based on the notion of sustainable development as a regulative idea outlined above, the link between sustainable development and education can be summarized as follows. Sustainable development is part and parcel of a general educational task, aimed at empowering the young generation to design their conditions of life on a more humane scale. It is based on an educational notion, which focuses on humans self-development and self-determination as they interact with, and reflect on, the world, with others, and with themselves. Education relates to the ability to contribute to the design of society in a reflected and responsible manner in terms of sustainable future development. 

One often speaks of self-organization. Indeed, as there are generally a multitude of dissipative structures available, molecular fluctuations determine which one will be chosen. We begin to understand the enormous variety of structures we observe in the natural world. Today the notion of dissipative structures and of self-organization appear in a wide range of fields from astrophysics up to human sciences and economy.
