The story whether there is water on Mars or not and if yes, how much, is not completely finished yet. As we have stated, the debate started more than 100 years ago by the observations of the canali which turned out to be artifacts caused by blurring effects in our atmosphere. In 1976 the first unmanned spacecrafts landed on the martian surface (Viking 1 and Viking 2). Mars appeared as a dry, rocky desert with no signs of water. 

Modern MCRs that involve isocyanides as starting materials are by far the most versatile reactions in terms of available scaffolds and numbers of accessible compounds. The oldest among these, the three-component Passerini MCR (P-3CR), involves the reaction between an aldehyde 9-1, an acid 9-2, and an isocyanide 9-3 to yield a-acyloxycarboxamides 9-6 in one step [8], The reaction mechanism has long been a point of debate, but a present-day generally accepted rational assumption for the observed products and byproducts is presented in Scheme 9.1. The reaction starts with the formation of adduct 9-4 by interaction of the carbonyl compound 9-1 and the acid 9-2. This is immediately followed by an addition of the oxygen of the carboxylic acid moiety to the carbon of the isocyanide 9-3 and addition of this carbon to the aldehyde group, as depicted in TS 9-5 to give 9-5. At a large workshop of about 150 dog people in Ljubljana, Slovenia, some years ago, the case for mine detection dogs (MDDs) was debated. No consensus was reached. There were just too many opinions, stresses, and uncertainties. The work group at the GICHD started basically with the same problems but through the persistence of Havard Bach and others the problems became less. 

TCAs in more serious forms of depression such as melancholic or psychotic depression. Some studies have suggested that the SSRls do not work as well as the TCAs in melancholic depression (Roose et al. 1994]. Likewise, one study has suggested that venlafaxine, a drug with a mechanism of action similar to that of the TCAs, was superior to fluoxetine in the treatment of inpatients with melancholic depression (Clerc et al. 1994]. Still, other metaanalyses have failed to find a difference in the efficacy of SSRls versus TCAs in serious forms of depression [Nierenberg 1994]. Nonetheless, given that most studies have employed TCAs, and some debate exists about the utility of SSRls in severe subtypes, it may be prudent to start with a TCA in most patients until the debate is further resolved. For patients who present a significant suicide risk or who have not been able to tolerate TCAs, the SSRls in combination with a standard antipsychotic appears an effective option. 

With these proposals a debate started about the constitution of Grignard reagents in solution which lasted for about sixty years. This topic has been reviewed by Ashby . 

Although not all the results of the experiments carried on until now are consistent with one another, most of them not only violate the Bell inequality but are also in good agreement with the prediction of quantum mechanics. The experimental errors are still rather large but in a few years this matter will be definitely settled by the results of further, more accurate experiments. It is rewarding that the final word even in this philosophical debate started in 1927, when quantum mechanics was in its infancy, will be definitely settled by accurate results of experiments designed and carried on with the most refined techniques of half a century later.

In this presentation, the authors seek to address some of these questions by reference to current trends in educational practice and the apphcation of active learning principles that have been developed, deployed and assessed at institutions in Australia, Israel and elsewhere. In most cases these approaches have found extensive use over many years. It is vital that the debate is centred not just on individual, isolated courses that touch on some aspects of the CAPE issue, but that we start with holistic or systems thinking on curriculum development that provides integration and cohesion in the curriculum and leads to graduate attributes and skills necessary for the next generation of engineers. 

There is also some debate as to how to interpret the exact start and end points of the various cardiac phases from an EGG. The actual changes are based on altered ionic balances across cell membranes, which move in cyclic patterns through the heart tissue and are manifested externally as minute changes in skin electrical potential. An EGG uses multiple leads to pick up the pattern of changes and so is an indirect observation that must be interpreted by a professional. 

A second central special rule affects the CO2 emissions from industrial processes. Carbon Dioxide. As the debate of the effect of greenhouse gases rages on, the simple fact remains that carbon dioxide production is one of the known side reactions of most metal-production operations. Carbon is an effective metal reductant. Coke is used to produce pig iron from iron oxide ores and lead from sulfide ores in blast furnaces, carbon electrodes are used to produce aluminum from bauxite leaching products, and coal is used in the reduction of zinc oxide in retorting furnaces. All told, the resulting product of metal reduction is the oxidation of carbon to carbon dioxide. It is important to keep in mind that the production of carbon dioxide has been reduced dramatically since the start of the Industrial Revolution of the late nineteenth-century. This is best exemplified by the history of steel making in the world. 

In terms of salt selection procedure, the critical relative humidity (CRH) of each salt should be identified. This is defined as the point at which the compound starts to sorb moisture. Clearly, compounds or salts that exhibit excessive moisture uptake should be rejected. The level of this uptake is debatable, but those exhibiting deliquescence (where the sample dissolves in the moisture that has been sorbed) should be automatically excluded from further consideration. 

Let us look at the actual conduct of the debate between these two men, for it is above all in the specifics of their argument that their metaphysical presuppositions will become clear.
