RTD beverages are also produced in non-carbonated forms. The most popular current form of these is distributed in aseptic card/foil laminate packs, such as Tetra Pak or Combibloc. These drinks are typically unpreserved and come in volumes of 200-330 ml. [Pg.4]

Canned and bottled citrus juices are examples of products that are packed aseptically, and these processes have been used in the industry for many years. One of the newer processes for aseptic packaging employs a paperboard package that is sterilized with hydrogen peroxide prior to the form, fill, and seal operation. This process, developed by Tetra Pak Ab of Lund, Sweden, is in use in many parts of the world, but it has not yet been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for domestic use. [Pg.240]

The new packaging system developed by Tetra Pak is known as the Tetra Brik , and is generally available in 1-1, 200-ml, and 250-ml sizes. The system is considered to be an alternative to metal and glass containers. The packaging material comes in roll stock form and is a 6-or 7-layer laminate.
