Alfa Laval

The Alfa-Laval extractor (213) can give up to 20 theoretical stages in one unit. Depending on the system being handled, the capacity of the standard unit ranges between 5.7 and 21.2 m /h (1500—5600 gal/h). Antibiotic extractions and petrochemical processing are typical appHcations.

The effluent from the disinfection step was flowed through a polysulfone spiral wound NF Pilot Plant with 0.7 m of membrane (DSS TEST UNIT M20-0,72-PSO, ALFA-LAVAL) working at room temperature and at 20 bar operation pressure.

In the following part, four reactors that have been extensively studied in our lab are described the open plate reactor (OPR) - the Alfa-Laval reactor technology (ART ) plate reactor, the Shimtec reactor from Chart Industries, the Corning (glass reactor), and the DeanHex reactor which has been constructed with SiC and stainless steel. 

The OPR developed by Alfa-Laval Vicarb is based on a modified HEX design [14] and consists of a modular structure built by stacking different plates (Figure 12.1) related to the circulation of reaction medium and utihty fluid (UE). ...

The Belgian company Alfa Laval in association with Schott Engineering (Germany) has developed processes similar to Cultor using the porous glass bead carrier Siran (made by Schott Engineering).
