Testing transformers

During the test, one pole of the testing transformer should be connected to ground and the frame of the assembly. [Pg.423]

Where V and I refer to full-load current and rated voltage and IZ is the voltage measured at rated current during a short-circuit test transformer. In the case of a transformer... [Pg.215]

For a synthesizer, we are reimplementing the Simulation and Evaluation of Chemical Synthesis (SECS) program on our IBM computer in collaboration with Professor Wipke, Once the program is running at Merck, we will instruct the chemists in program operation, and then ask them to code and test transforms. [Pg.186]

The simplest transformations first identify feasible changes and then rely on the timer to evaluate the impact on performance. For example, a cell-movement transformation trying to relocate a cell on a critical path may identify several vacant nearby locations, and a repowering transformation may bind a critical cell to every power level available in the cell library. In either case, a timing query must be independently executed after each change is made, to select the one with greatest slack improvement. We term such methods bind-and-test transformations. [Pg.52]

Paschkis first became embroiled in conflicts of moral and occupational duty as an employee at AEG. Tasked with testing transformers as they came off the line, he identified a pattern of faulty equipment. After a few days marking defective gear, his boss demanded that he falsify the results or be fired. Untold engineers have left similar meetings in a silence that can define a career. Paschkis was righteous and lucky. He successfully pleaded his case to an executive manager who was a distant in-law, and was rewarded for his honesty with a transfer and a promotion. Nonetheless, the lack of formal recourse impressed upon Paschkis the need for collective representation, and he retold his story innumerable times to draw attention to the practical problems of conscience. [Pg.78]

The main justification for diesel fuel desulfurization is related to particulate emissions which are subject to very strict rules. Part of the sulfur is transformed first into SO3, then into hydrated sulfuric acid on the filter designed to collect the particulates. Figure 5.21 gives an estimate of the variation of the particulate weights as a function of sulfur content of diesel fuel for heavy vehicles. The effect is greater when the test cycle contains more high temperature operating phases which favor the transformation of SO2 to SO3. This is particularly noticeable in the standard cycle used in Europe (ECE R49). [Pg.254]

The control has been performed by contact, in oblique transverse waves with an angle of 45°. In this test, we have inserted Hilbert transform for detecting envelops. [Pg.227]

The system provides an opportunity to test our method for finding the conical intersection and the stabilized ground-state structures that are formed by the distortion. Recall that we focus on the distinction between spin-paired structures, rather than true minima. A natural choice for anchors are the two C2v stmctures having A2 and B, symmetry shown in Figures 21 and 22 In principle, each set can serve as the anchors. The reaction converting one type-I structirre to another is phase inverting, since it transforms one allyl structure to another (Fig. 12). [Pg.359]

Before the widespread availability of instrumental methods the major approach to structure determination relied on a battery of chemical reactions and tests The response of an unknown substance to various reagents and procedures provided a body of data from which the structure could be deduced Some of these procedures are still used to supple ment the information obtained by instrumental methods To better understand the scope and limitations of these tests a brief survey of the chemical reactions of carbohydrates is m order In many cases these reactions are simply applications of chemistry you have already learned Certain of the transformations however are unique to carbohydrates... [Pg.1052]

The demonstration unit was later transported to the CECOS faciHty at Niagara Falls, New York. In tests performed in 1985, approximately 3400 L of a mixed waste containing 2-chlorophenol [95-57-8] nitrobenzene [98-95-3] and 1,1,2-trichloroethane [79-00-5] were processed over 145 operating hours 2-propanol was used as a supplemental fuel the temperature was maintained at 615 to 635°C. Another 95-h test was conducted on a PCB containing transformer waste. Very high destmction efficiencies were achieved for all compounds studied (17). A later bench-scale study, conducted at Smith Kline and French Laboratories in conjunction with Modar (18), showed that simulated chemical and biological wastes, a fermentation broth, and extreme thermophilic bacteria were all completely destroyed within detection limits. [Pg.499]

The amphibian metamorphosis test is based on the abiUty of thyroid hormones to induce precocious transformation of a tadpole into a frog or of the axolod into a salamander. It is rarely used because of solubiUty problems and the difficulty of applying the results to humans. [Pg.51]

It is shown that metrological characteristics of the suggested methods are commensurable. Dissolved gas is pushed away by front of crystallization, takes the air and does not influence on the obtained results during the analysis of the water. Process is carried out at the lower temperature (-15°C), expelling chemical transformations of ingredients. The procedure was tested on different samples of natural and drinking water of the Kharkov region. [Pg.194]

All the CT (current transformer) secondaries must be shorted and grounded while conducting the test on the main circuit. This condition is redundant while conducting test on the auxiliary circuit. [Pg.422]

Polarity test to check the connections through the potential transformer to ensure that the connections between the transformer and the meters or relays have a correct relative polarity. Otherwise the meters would show erratic readings, while the relays would transmit wrong signals. This test may also be conducted with a low-voltage source of 10 V by ob.serving the deflection of the instruments. [Pg.434]
