In addition to the condenser, a test facility must have adequate diffusion-pump capacity to handle leakage and outgassingof noncondensible gases. If liquid nitrogen is the condenser coolant, atmospheric gases and hydrogen or helium are essentially noncondensible gases. If liquid helium were used in all or part of the condenser, a reduction in required diffusion-pump capacity would result, but it is questionable whether such a helium system could be competitive with the diffusion pump on a cost basis. 

On the basis of the results of the drying tests that establish size and operating charac teristics, formal quotations and guarantees shoiild be obtained from diyer manufacturers. Initial costs, installation costs, operating costs, produc t quality, diyer operability, and diyer flexibihty can then be given proper weight in final evaluation and selection. 

Selection of Equipment If a new product is being considered, the preliminaiy study must be highly detailed. Laboratory or pilot-plant work must be done to establish the controhing factors. The problem is then to select and instaU equipment which 1 operate for quantity production at minimum overall cost. Most equipment vendors have pilot equipment available on a rental basis or can conduct test runs in their own customer-demonstration facilities. 

Detailed sampling can include, but is not limited to, the installation of monitoring well networks. After the wells have been installed, aquifer tests are typically performed. Once the aquifer tests are performed and the aquifer characteristics are determined, time series sampling for a given contaminant, or a surrogate, is undertaken. The combined results of these efforts provide the basis for development of a treatment strategy. Modeling can be used as part of this effort to help determine the best technical and most cost-effective techniques to be used at a site.

For every dry sorbent, attrition mainly still occurs in the early stage of fluidization and A1 test on the basis of the weight after 5 hours shows that Als of molecular sieve 5A and molecular sieve 13X presented 2.1 4.0 times higher than those of activated carbon and activated alumina. Therefore, the use of molecular sieve 5A and 13X in a fluidized bed can cause high maintenance cost and problems in the operating the process.

The BCS has been developed primarily for regulatory applications, although its use has been extended beyond this area (as discussed in more detail below). The aim of the BCS in a regulatory context is to provide a basis for replacing certain bioequivalence studies by equally or more accurate in vitro dissolution tests. This could reduce costs and time in the development process as well as reducing unnecessary drug exposure in healthy volunteers, which is normally the study population in bioequivalence studies. 

Two different and possibly complementary approaches have been explored. One utilizes a panel of quantifiable internal reference standards (QIRS), which are common proteins present widely in tissues in relatively consistent amounts.11,22 In this instance because the reference proteins are intrinsic to the tissue they are necessarily subjected to identical fixation and processing, and incur no additional handling or cost, other than synchronous performance of a second IHC assay (stain), such that the intensity of reaction for the QIRS and the test analyte can be compared by IA, allowing calculation of the amount of test analyte (protein) present on a formulaic standard curve basis. The other approach seeks to identify external reference materials and to introduce these into each step of tissue preparation for cases where IHC studies are anticipated in this instance the logistical issues of production, distribution, and inclusion of the reference standard into all phases of tissue processing also must be considered, along with attendant costs.
