Recent terrorist attacks on October 12, 2002, in Bali, Indonesia, showed that the homemade and industrial explosive bombs present a serious threat to the world community. These terrorist activities generated enormous demand for rapid identification of nitroaromatic explosives at the site of terrorism. The decentralized detection of explosives at low concentrations is fundamental for safety of civilized people. The ideal counter-terrorism detection device should allow the security forces to make the important decision concerning evacuating, barricading, effective decontamination of particular site or efficient pursuing of suspects. 

TRWA is reported to have connections to the Islamic terror network [of] Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman - the convicted mastermind behind the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing - and Osama Bin Laden, the wealthy Saudi terrorist implicated in the 11th September 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.42... 

This publication represents the result of the fruitful workshop organised with the aim to attract the attention on the possibility of bio terrorism attack, with the support of NATO funds. In the last years the attention was strongly concentrated on the terrorism view similar to military type attacks bomb on the trains, kamikazes, airplanes etc. As consequence many devices studied are directed to prevent these attacks such as the control of the passengers before the flight. 

For the people terrorism is therefore equivalent to bomb or similar and nobody think that there is also other possible and sophisticated means that can be used by the terrorist. In 1995 Sarin gas in the Tokio subway killed 12 people and affected 5,000 persons. In the USA anthrax was sent by mail to many federal offices. These events and other cases attract the attention on these possible terrorist attacks and the first recommendations for preventing theses events were elaborated in the United State and in Europe. 

Delivery of chemical agents can be accomplished by a full range of weaponry. Liquid agents may be dispensed from land mines and spray tanks to artillery projectiles, aerial bombs, rocket and missile warheads, or even cruise missiles. This means that all battlefield areas, from front lines to rear reserves, are vulnerable to chemical warfare attack, and that medical practitioners should be fully prepared to treat chemical warfare casualties from a variety of locations. It is also important to note that, while this section largely focuses on the use of chemical warfare agents on the battlefield, medical personnel must also be prepared for the possibility of isolated and spontaneous chemical attacks on both military personnel and civilians in areas subject to low-intensity conflict and isolated acts of terrorism. 

Terrorism is often categorized as "domestic" or "international. This distinction refers not to where the terrorist act takes place but rather to the origin of the individuals or groups responsible for it. For example, the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was an act of domestic ten orism, but the attacks of September 2001 were international in nature.
