In a project implemented at Nil, ovine growth hormone (oGH) was expressed as inclusion bodies using a pQE expression vector. The expressed protein was 10 -15% of the total cellular proteins of E. coli. The recombinant ovine growth hormone was purified from inclusion bodies and refolded into its native conformation. The refolded recombinant oGH was found to be immunoreactive with RIA/RRA characterized by SDS-PAGE, Western blot, N-terminal amino acid sequence, CD, fluorescence spectra, RIA, and RRA. High cell density cultivation was standardized and found to be enhanced to 100 times. In 16 h, 3.2 g H of oGH was produced which is claimed to be the highest level of any recombinant growth hormone reported in E. coli [57]. 

ECL cell density thus reflects the circulating gastrin concentration, and hypergastrinemia induced by acid inhibition is responsible for the proliferation of ECL cells. In humans, the results of 10-year treatment with omeprazole show no significant change in the ECL cell population, presumably because there is a lack of effect of gastrin on the stem cell population, and possibly the mature ECL cell is terminally differentiated in people. 

Throughout the course of the simulations, the content of the dissolved gas in the polymer matrix decreases continuously due to the gas consumption by the bubble nucleation and growth processes. Finally, when the gas content is sufficiently low, the nucleation rate is negligible and this point is considered to be the termination point of the simulation. Consequently, information about the cell density and the bubble radii for each time step was extracted tfom the simulation program for the subsequent analyses. 

Localisation of specific NT terminals. After its injection a labelled precursor should be taken up and detected in appropriate nerve terminals (and possibly cell bodies) so that the intensity of emission reflects the density of nerve terminals and the innervation. Using this procedure it has been possible to show that very little [ F] fluorodopa is concentrated in the striatum of Parkinsonian patients, compared with normals (Fig. 14.1). Whether the label remains on dopa or is transferred to dopamine will not greatly affect the result since both will label DA neurons although some will occur in noradrenergic nerve terminals.
