Systems workbench

The entire set-up has been integrated into the WODCA system (Workbench for the Organisation of Data for Chemical AppUcations). WODCA has been implemented on SUN workstations with peripheral graphical input and output programmes that make heavy use of the window techniques of the Sun View... [Pg.427]

Use an external PES with an emulator program to respond to I/O states. This could be the development system (workbench) computer or another PES. If these types are coimected via a serial communications link the link must be part of the certified system. This arrangement avoids the need to change anything in the SIS logic solver. [Pg.268]

The CACTVS molecule editor is a graphical input tool for molecular structures and is free of charge for non-profit use. It can be used as a stand-alone or as a dependent remote program of the CACTVS computation workbench. The software is available for aU platforms (excluding Macintosh systems). [Pg.139]

At many workplaces, emissions occur randomly across a certain emission area (e.g., across the area of a workbench or grinding workpiece). In many cases these emissions are difficult to control using exterior exhaust systems because of the undefined emission location and because of work procedure flexibility. Additionally, severe influences (cross-flows) from the surrounding room often reduce the efficiency of single exhaust elements to a minimum. In such cases, booths are the appropriate choice for a local exhaust system. [Pg.881]

The two versions of the Aaberg exhaust system, namely an axisymmetri-cal version and a workbench version, both work on the same principle. In order to illustrate the principle of the Aaberg we describe the axisymmetrical version but the full theoretical, computational, and experimental basis is presented for both systems. [Pg.956]

In the case of the free jet, the solution for the Aaberg exhaust system can be found by solving the Laplace equation by the method of separation of variables and assuming that there is no fluid flow through the surface of the workbench. At the edge of the jet, which is assumed to be at 0—0, the stream function is given by Eq. (10.113). This gives rise to... [Pg.963]

In this section, multimedia tools refer to computer-based systems that integrate multiple symbol systems (Salomon, 1979), such as text, audio, video, graph, and animation, to demonstrate chemical entities and/or processes at the macro, submicro, or symbolic levels. In the following, we review four multimedia tools—4M Chem, ChemSense, Molecular Workbench, and Connected Chemistry—and use the design principles suggested by Wu and Shah (2004) to summarize how these tools support students in learning chemistry. [Pg.256]

The simulated C02 fugacity matches the initial reservoir C02 content and indicates that the pH is buffered by C02-calcite equilibrium. Further modelling was carried out using the Geochemists Workbench React and Tact modules with the thermodynamic database modified to reflect the elevated P conditions and kinetic rate parameters consistent with the Waarre C mineralogy. The Waarre C shows low reactivity and short-term predictive modelling of the system under elevated C02 content changes little with time (Fig. 1). [Pg.153]

SOPHAS M (Figure 13.10) is an automatic modular solid-phase synthesizer based on a robotic system. Synthesis can be carried out in a variety of reaction vessels, such as 96-well microtiter plates, tubes, or vials. The vessels are mowed on the 1- or 1.2-m-length workbench in aluminum carriers (12 mm x 86 mm) by a robotic arm. The content of the reaction vessels is isolated from the atmosphere by a pierceable double seal. There are four independent pipetting probes on the synthesizer. Each probe has three independent channels. The channels allow the synthesizer to simultaneously aspirate and add washing solvents and nitrogen. [Pg.332]

The thermodynamic equilibrium models, including surface complexation models, require the solution of a complex mathematical equation system. For this reason, many computer programs (e.g., CHEAQC, CHEMEQL, CHESS, EQ3/6, F1TEQL, Geochemist s Workbench, H ARPHRQ, JESS, MINTEQ and its versions, NETPATH, PHREEQC, PHRQPITZ, WHAM, etc.) have been developed to calculate the concentration and activity of chemical species, estimate the type and amount of minerals formed or dissolved, and the type and amount of sorbed complexes. [Pg.35]

Much theoretical work has been carried out on the lithium hydride molecule, which has become the workbench of the theoretical chemist (J ). Browne ( ), and Fraga and Ransil ( 3) have given the binding energy for the LiH ion by ab initio calculation Com-panion(j4) has applied the diatomic-in-molecule theory to the Li H and LiH. molecules and predicted the stabilities of these molecules. We have intensively studied the Li-H system by means of Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry, and identified all predicted molecules and ions as cited above(5), and reported the thermochemical properties of these gaseous species (, 2, ) ... [Pg.265]

A contemporary work with Spaccapietra and Parent [1994] is The Database Design and Evaluation Workbench [Rosenthal and Reiner 1994], The workbench allows users to manipulate schemas, including combining multiple views into one schema. Their ER-based system largely focuses on rearrangements, which transform the input but leave the content equivalent to the input. The primary transformations that they considered were ... [Pg.230]

To show how these programs work, we consider a couple of examples from The Geochemist s Workbench User s Guide, then repeat them with phreeqc. Examples of more complex systems are considered in later chapters. [Pg.143]

We thank Dale L. Bodian and Brian K. Shoichet for their help. We thank the Computer Graphics Laboratory (supported by National Institutes of Health RR-01081) for use of their facilities for parts of this project. Partial support was received from the National Institutes of Health GM-31497 (IDK) GM-39552 (IDK), GM-07175 (GLS), and GM-29072 to Peter Kollman.
