As a result of point 2, the adsorption is accompanied by dynamic and irreversible entrapment of the molecules when a natural porous core or model is flooded by polymer solutions. This makes the application of a compatible polymer-model system imperative in adsorption studies. In the course of our investigations, this requirement was fulfilled as far as possible. Despite all our efforts, however, it should be emphasized that the mechanical retention can have a share in the adsorbed amount if the polymer concentration is over the critical value.

It has become fashionable to prefix the names of disciplines with bio , as in biophysics, bioinfonnatics and so on, giving the impression that in order to deal with biological systems, a different kind of physics, or infonnation science, is needed. Biological systems are often very complex and compartmentalized, and their scaling laws may be different from those familiar in inanimate systems, but this merely means that different emphases from those useful in dealing with large unifonn systems are required, not that a separate branch of knowledge should necessarily be developed.

The most effective way to prevent SCC in both stainless steel and brass systems is to keep the system clean and free of deposits. An effective deposit control treatment is imperative. A good corrosion inhibitor is also beneficial. Chromate and phosphate have each been used successfully to prevent the SCC of stainless steel in chloride solutions. 

Examining a candidate toller s records of formal reporting and follow-up on mechanical deficiencies or hazardous conditions is imperative. The assessor should verify whether such a system is in place and is effective. 

In most applications, a bar primary CT is generally used and a normal CT may be suitable. The presence of non-condensable gases in steam systems (e.g. air and CO2) will reduce the partial pressure of the steam, and hence its temperature, thus affecting the output of the appliance. A further adverse effect is the presence of a non-condensable gas at the inside surface of a heat emitter. These impede condensation and, hence, heat output. It is therefore imperative that suitable means are provided to prevent formation of CO2 and to evacuate all gases from the system. 

Many of the predictive systems manufacturers are strictly hardware and software oriented. Therefore, they offer minimal training and no application training or technical support. Few plants can achieve minimum benefits from predictive maintenance without training and some degree of technical support. It is therefore imperative that the selected system or system vendors provide a comprehensive support package that includes both training and technical support.
