Sustainable development promote

Today, with the pressing need to achieve sustainable development, the reduction of the energy losses and the optimization of all processes has promoted the continuous development and implementation of advanced energy control systems in all sectors. 

One of the conclusions from the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro (the Earth Summit) was the urgent need to find a more sustainable way of life, based on careful use of resources and a reduction in environmental emissions. There was also a call to move towards a model in which environmental enhancement is fully integrated with economic development. The consequences of this summit have been far-reaching not least by the fact that, in Europe and elsewhere, environmental protection requirements are now integrated into many policies rather than being separate pieces of legislation. Resource efficient syntheses and production processes of fine chemicals contribute significantly to sustainable development. This has also been pointed out in Agenda 21 Promote efficient use of materials and resources, taking into account the life cycles of products, in order to realize the economic and environmental benefits of using resources more efficiently and producing fewer wastes (Agenda 21, Chapter 9.18). 

The writing of this book was undertaken because it was intended to be the first work that solely focuses on chemistry, and what appropriate metrics for Green Chemistry might be. We hope the book provides an up-to-date and authoritative text on the current development of environmental concepts in chemical technologies from clean and green to sustainable development. We also think it provides up-to-date information on the problems of metrics fundamental aspects of metrics, practical realisations and real-world case study examples. The concepts and approaches of metrics are related to the fundamental problems in chemistry and the main focus is on the use of metrics to promote the development and implementation of green chemistry and technology solutions. 

UNEP, established in 1972, is the UN agency for the promotion of wise use and sustainable development of the global environment (UNEP 2006). 

It is understood as the promotion of practices by responsible businesses that are useful both for business itself and society and promote social, economic, and ecologically sustainable development through maximizing the positive impacts of business on society and minimizing the negative ones. 

In January 2004, BASF became a founding member of the China Business Council for Sustainable Development and hosted a symposium to encourage direct contact with its stakeholders. This organization brings us together with other like-minded members such as Sinopec, which is now not only our investment partner but also a partner on the journey to promoting sustainable development in China. 

The Revolution of 1974, and the subsequent entrance of Portugal into the European Union (EU), brought about significant developments in the Autonomous Region of Madeira RAM - Madeira Island and which had an impact in its vitivinicultural sector. The reinforcement of quality control became one of the priorities of the RAM government, promoting a sustainable development of the wine industry.

Individually, these three major sectors of society substantially contribute to environment and sustainable development. However, it has been proven and well-recognised that when the three sectors work in partnership, the synergistic results and impacts are far more potent and cost-efficient. Thus, UNCED promoted the creation of multi-stakeholder mechanisms for sustainable development which have been genetically referred to as the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD). This was reiterated in WSSD and reflected in Johannesburg Plan of Implementation. 

In the Asia-Europe context, the conference 1/3 of Our Planet What Can Asia and Europe Do for Sustainable Development, held in Jakarta in November 2005, was the largest ever multi-stakeholder event between the two regions on sustainable development. This demostrates that the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) as a forum built to promote better mutual understanding between the peoples of the Asian and European regions can have a key role here in facilitating a better exchange of views on options for a safer use of chemicals and in supporting SAICM.

AccountAbility is an international, not-for-profit, professional institute dedicated to the promotion of social, ethical and overall organizational accountability, a precondition for achieving sustainable development (AccountAbility, 2003). In the European Union the Marrakech process has led to a renewed European Sustainable Development Strategy, which identifies Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) as one of the key objectives to be achieved in the context of the European Union s commitment of sustainable development. SCP aims to promote sustainable consumption and production by addressing social and economic development within the carrying capacity of ecosystems and decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation. ...
