Successful management goals

Demands imposed by a highly competitive economy for more effective management performance are not going to go away. They compel safety professionals to seek to be perceived as problem solvers whose counsel is sought because of their successes as participants in achieving management goals. 

The principle lesson to be learned here is that success for any element in an Operational Risk Management System will be achieved only if it is perceived as a part of the overall management system and as in concert with management goals. 

The corrective action program should be viewed as one key element of the semiconductor facility s environmental due diligence program. It should be portrayed as an honest effort by the corporation to be a good corporate citizen rather than a draconian criminal detection system aimed at employees. The purpose, after all, is to detect, correct, and prevent problems in order that the corporation and individuals can be successful in meeting both your business and environmental management goals and objectives. 

To successfully manage dependencies, RDT argues that firms must gain control over vital resources to reduce reliance on others and increase others reliance on them. It means firms should try to increase their power in their environments (Pfeffer and Nowak 1996 Thorelli 1986 Barringer and Harrison 2000). Supply chain collaboration provides such a way to helping firms to reach these goals. 

The basic goal of quality management is the elimination of failure both in the concept and in the reality of our products, services, and processes. In an ideal world, if we could design products, services, and processes that could not fail we would have achieved the ultimate goal. Failure means not only that products, services, and processes would fail to fulfill their function but that their function was not what our customers desired. A gold-plated mousetrap that does not fail is not a success if no one needs a gold-plated mousetrap ... 

Successful Quality Management programs usually have clearly defined missions and objectives. Of the organizations that have committed to integration, we have found no single example that meets our needs. The following mission statement and goals have been adapted from several sources. 

By the beginning of the nineteenth centui"y, Fulton turned his attention to his obsession with submarines and steamships. He made uo secret of his goal for submarines—he intended to build them in order to destroy all ships of war so that appropriate attention could be devoted by society to the fields of education, industry and free speech. In 1801, he managed to stay under water for four hours and twenty minutes in one of his devices, and in 1805 he demonstrated the ability to utilize a torpedo to blow up a well built ship of two hundred tons. Unfortunately for Robert, neither the French nor British government was particularly impressed with the unpredictable success, nor the importance of his innovations so he packed his bags and returned to America in December of 1806. 

The successful outcome in cholesterol management is to reduce cholesterol and triglycerides below the NCEP ATP III goals in an effort to alter the natural course of atherosclerosis and decrease future cardiovascular events.
