Stress studies

For non-compendial procedures, the performance parameters that should be determined in validation studies include specificity/selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision (repeatability and intermediate precision), detection limit (DL), quantitation limit (QL), range, ruggedness, and robustness [6]. Other method validation information, such as the stability of analytical sample preparations, degradation/ stress studies, legible reproductions of representative instrumental output, identification and characterization of possible impurities, should be included [7], The parameters that are required to be validated depend on the type of analyses, so therefore different test methods require different validation schemes.

The implantation of hydrogen into silicon or crystal growth in a hydrogen atmosphere introduces vibrational bands that have been ascribed to lattice defects decorated with hydrogen. While IR experiments were begun —10 years before similar studies of passivated shallow impurities, the structures of the complexes that result from H+ implantation are not well understood. This subject has been reviewed previously by Pearton et al. (1987, 1989). Here, the central experimental results will be summarized. A recent uniaxial stress study (Bech Nielsen etal., 1989) of several of the vibrational features will be discussed in Section IV.3. 

The assignment of the 809 and 1560 cm-1 bands of the donor-H complexes were based upon the expected frequencies of the wagging and stretching modes and the 2 1 ratio of intensities (Bergman et al., 1988a). A uniaxial stress study of the vibrational bands (Bergman et al., 1988b) will be reviewed here. Only the As—H complex was studied under stress because the donor-H complexes have nearly identical vibrational spectra for the different donors and are expected to behave similarly under stress. 

In other words, it is used to verify that the specificity of the levels 1-3 method is maintained throughout development. In cases where the orthogonal method shows the primary method to be deficient, the orthogonal method is validated and is used as a secondary method in conjunction with the primary method. Additional new methods may also need to be developed to address specific issues encountered in stress studies, such as when mass balance is not observed. 

An output of the impurity profiling of DS and stress studies of DP is an understanding of drug chemistry, particularly with respect to which synthetic impurities are expected to continue to be present in optimized synthetic lots and what degradation products are formed in DS and DP. People suffering from PTSD frequently have abnormal levels of the hormones that are involved in the body s response to stress. Studies have shown that baseline cortisol levels in people with PTSD are lower than normal, and epinephrine and norepinephrine levels are higher than normal. However, it is not known whether these differences in hormones and neurotransmitters involved in the bod/s stress response precede or follow the development of the disorder. It is important to note that the neurotransmitter and hormone changes seen with PTSD are separate from, and actually opposite to, those seen in major depression.
