C depending on the reference consulted). Fires may be controlled with carbon dioxide or dry chemical extinguishers. Recommended methods of handlings loadings unloadings and storage can be obtained from Material Safety Data Sheets and inquiries directed to suppHers of acetone. [Pg.99]

Fig. 5. Equipment foi surface treating plastic components. Parts ate loaded into one of the two lower chambers which is then evacuated to remove most of the air. This chamber is then flooded with a dilute mixture of fluorine and nitrogen which is made and stored in the upper chamber. After the treatment is completed, the fluorine mixture is pumped back up to the upper chamber for storage and the lower chamber repeatedly flooded with air and evacuated to remove any traces of fluorine gas. Two treatment chambers are cycled between the loading/unloading operation and the treatment step to increase equipment output. The fluorine—nitrogen blend may be used several times before by-products from the treatment process begin to interfere. AH waste... Fig. 5. Equipment foi surface treating plastic components. Shipment and Storage, Specifications. A/-Vinyl-2-pyrrohdinone is available in tank cars and tank trailers and in dmms of various sizes. Shipping containers are normally steel or stainless steel. Tank cars are provided with heating coils to facihtate unloading in cold weather. Rubber, epoxy, and epoxy—phenohc coatings are attacked and must be avoided. Carbon steel has been successfully used for storage tanks, but stainless steel preserves product quahty better. Aluminum and certain phenohc coatings are also satisfactory. [Pg.523]

Hopper Trucks These trucks are used to transport by highway a wide variety of materials. Vehicle types range from the open-dumping kind to the closed type. Most common is the type that unloads by pressure differential into its own pneumatic-conveying system, which is temporarily connected to a storage silo. On this type of truck, the unloading of 18,100 kg (40,000 lb) of produces takes about 1 h, sometimes less. [Pg.1982]

Land area Area should he large enough to hold all wastes for a minimum of 5 years hut from the unloading area no salvage storage on site. [Pg.2257]

The negative system usually sucks on a cyclone and/or filter/receiver mounted above the receiving storage hopper or bin. Solids are usually sent down to the hopper with a rotary air lock feeder. Air is sucked into the transfer pipe or duct at the pickup end of the sy.stem. A variety of feeders can be used to introduce solids into the flowing air stream such as rotary air lock feeders, pan-type manifolds under rail car hoppers, paddle-type rail car unloaders, screw conveyors, etc. [Pg.203]

Communication should be established and maintained between people on the ship, the berth and at the storage installation during loading/unloading. [Pg.481]

Ammonia is unloaded from the storage tank to either of the two fertilizer plants using three discharge pumps for 86 hours. [Pg.446]

The lime unloading operation simply consists of using a clamshell to unload a barge. The lime is carried by the clamshell into an enclosed hopper and dropped. From this transfer point, conveyors carry the lime to storage silos. [Pg.906]
