Storage of textiles

Performance. Although wear and field trials and actual storage of textiles are the ultimate in predicting the ability of treated fibers to withstand degradation, such studies are tedious and time-consuming. Accelerated performance tests have therefore been devised to relate fiber preservation to actual storage and exposure conditions.

Zinc is also used extensively to galvanize other metals such as iron to prevent corrosion. Zinc oxide is a unique and very useful material for modern civilization. It is widely used in the manufacture of paints, rubber products, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, floor coverings, plastics, printing inks, soap, storage batteries, textiles, electrical equipment, and other products. Lithopone, a mixture of zinc sulfide and barium sulfate, is an important pigment. 

In the petroleum industry, sulfuric acid is used in refining processes to remove certain undesired components from crude petroleum. This acid is also employed in large quantities in the manufacture of explosives, paints, pigments, storage batteries, textiles (rayon and other cellulose products), dyes, drugs, and so forth. 

The influence of the environment on degradation of natural textile fibers is well documented. Most research has been directed towards assessing how well materials withstand weathering or outdoor exposure although there has been increased emphasis on preservation of textiles in storage, particularly as objects of art in museums.

High capacity for storage of preferably liquid effect chemicals only few restrictions on their molecular size or polarity but the oxide film changes textile qualities like softness causes a harder hand and problems during sewing (needle abrasion)... 

REFORM brand of textile reactant (as an aqueous solution with 60% active solids) is used to reduce free formaldehyde levels on durable-press fabrics by 40-70%. When REFORM textile reactant is combined with currently used durable-press resins, not only is free formaldehyde permanently reduced, but also the physical properties of the cured fabrics remain essentially unaltered, even after storage for one year.

Other properties also play a role, for instance, the color of the outer material affects the reflection of solar radiation and light colors are thus beneficial in the full sun to reduce heat stress. Textile properties like wicking capacity affect the dispersion of sweat through a garment. It is generally preferred to evaporate the sweat immediately from a thermal standpoint. Storage of sweat m textiles is not desirable.
