Liquid crystal polymers are also used in electrooptic displays. Side-chain polymers are quite suitable for this purpose, but usually involve much larger elastic and viscous constants, which slow the response of the device (33). The chiral smectic C phase is perhaps best suited for a polymer field effect device. The abiHty to attach dichroic or fluorescent dyes as a proportion of the side groups opens the door to appHcations not easily achieved with low molecular weight Hquid crystals. Polymers with smectic phases have also been used to create laser writable devices (30). The laser can address areas a few micrometers wide, changing a clear state to a strong scattering state or vice versa. Future uses of Hquid crystal polymers may include data storage devices. Polymers with nonlinear optical properties may also become important for device appHcations. 

Additional database space must be allocated when intermediate data points are used. A system can be designed to use process I/O points as intermediates. However, the data acquisition software must be programmed to bypass these points when scanned. All system builders provide virtual data point types if the intermediate data storage scheme is adopted. These points are not scanned by the data acquisition software. Memory space reqmrements are reduced by eliminating unnecessary attributes such as hardware addresses and scan frequencies. It should be noted that the fiU-iu-the-forms technique is apphcable to all data point types. 

NFPA 30 and API Standard 2000 provide gmdance for design of overpressure protec tion involving storage tanks that operate at or near atmospheric pressure. In particular, NFPA 30 focuses on flammability issues, while API 2000 addresses both pressure and vacuum requirements. The ASME code (Sections I and TII) and API RP 520 are the primaiy references for pressure rehef device sizing requirements. 

The technical package may specify a scope and frequency for periodic audits and performance criteria that could lead to changing the audit frequency. It may be a general safety and environmental performance audit or a special audit for items such as raw material storage and handling, quality control methods and documentation. The proprietary nature of a process or product or the complexity of the toll could be a reason to establish a more frequent audit schedule for certain tolls. Audits can also be conducted to follow-up on previously identified shortcomings to document that they were addressed properly. 

Chemoinformatics (or cheminformatics) deals with the storage, retrieval, and analysis of chemical and biological data. Specifically, it involves the development and application of software systems for the management of combinatorial chemical projects, rational design of chemical libraries, and analysis of the obtained chemical and biological data. The major research topics of chemoinformatics involve QSAR and diversity analysis. The researchers should address several important issues. First, chemical structures should be characterized by calculable molecular descriptors that provide quantitative representation of chemical structures. Second, special measures should be developed on the basis of these descriptors in order to quantify structural similarities between pairs of molecules. Finally, adequate computational methods should be established for the efficient sampling of the huge combinatorial structural space of chemical libraries. 

You must report in this section the total annual quantity of the chemical sent to any of the off-site disposal, treatment, or storage facilities for which you have provided an address In Part II. You are not required to report quantities of the chemical sent off-site for purposes of recycle or reuse. Report the amou nt of the toxic chemical transferred off-site after any on-site treatment or removal is completed. Report zero for releases of listed acids and bases if they have been neutralized to pH 6-9 prior to discharge to a POTW. See the discussion under Section 5.3, Discharges to Receiving Streams or Water Bodies (see page 21). 

More inclusive is Table 3.3.1 -3 which is appropriate at depth into the analysis. The major headings in this table address major hazardous subject areas,. iccideni mitigation, protection and repair. I or example, under the first major heading, "Storage of Raw Materials, Products, Intermediates," listed are confinement measures, release nicclumi.sms (valves), procedures for safe operation and limitations that must be observed for safety. 

The procedures that require the use or preparation of documents should also specify or invoke the procedures for their control. If the controls are unique to the document, they should be specified in the procedure that requires the document. You can produce one or more common procedures which deal with the controls that apply to all documents. Although ISO 9001 does not address all controls under clause 4.5, the provisions of clause 4.16 relating to the identification, access, filing, and storage of quality records are equally appropriate to documents in general and should be applied although it is not mandatory. 

This requirement supplements that for records to be readily retrievable but in addition implies a further requirement for security of records. After addressing the filing and storage requirements, you need to ensure that the records are accessible to those who will need to use them. This applies not only to current records but to those in the archive and any insurance copies you may have stored away. A balance has to be attained... 

Linked to the filing and indexing requirement, this requirement addresses the conditions of storage and also provides the reasons i.e. to prevent loss. On the subject of loss, you will need to consider loss by fire, theft, and unauthorized removal. If using computers you will also need to consider loss through computer viruses and unauthorized access, deletion, or the corruption of files. A booking in/out system should be used for completed records when they are in storage, in order to prevent unauthorized removal.
