Step-down caps

The strike rate for a vanilla cap is constant throughout, but with step-up and step-down caps the strike rate can vary according to a predefined schedule. If structured appropriately, this can provide a substantial cost saving for customers buying these products. [Pg.551]

Something moves. Down the steps from the keep, across the bailey, walks Stephen. He does not pass the line of men. But as I reach the block, he moves again, pulling off his cap. He bends his knee to me, and bows his head. [Pg.339]

Postmoney value is the market cap after the funding is complete and is what new investors focus on. Postmoney value is measured against other deals and the likely step-up in value prior to the next funding evenf. As the biotech market heats up or cools down, comparable values rise and fall. During the venture capital stage, investors try to estimate when the company can do an IPO (their exit strategy) and at what premoney value, and based on this estimate, coupled with their target rate of refum, they discount back to what would be a reasonable private postmoney value. [Pg.596]

For the home winemaker, the separation is facilitated if a cylindrical stainless steel screen closed at the bottom and long enough to extend from the top level of the cap to the bottom of the fermentation vessel is obtained. The screen is pushed down through the layer of skins until the screen bottom is in contact with the bottom of the fermenter. The wine is then siphoned from the inside of the screen into the containers in which the fermentation will finish. When no more free run wine can be obtained, the residual skins may be pressed to augment the yield considerably. Excessive pressure is to be avoided in this step lest the press wine be overly astringent and bitter. The free run wine should be kept separate from the press wine until the fermentations are finished. Tasting at this time will dictate whether the two can be blended without impairment of quality or whether the press wine is to be kept as a second quality wine. [Pg.300]

The next step in the pathway is the column. The compression fitting on the inlet end-cap leads to the stainless steel frit at the top of the column. The column itself is a heavy-walled stainless steel tube filled with packing and mobile phase. The outlet end is identical to the inlet. Moving on down the wetted surface, we find 0.01-in tubing leading to the detector flow cell. [Pg.126]

Step 3. Shake the separatory funnel vigorously for at least one minute. Invert the funnel, open the stopcock to relieve the pressure, then close the stopcock. Place the separatory funnel on the stand to allow the two phases to separate. Remove the cap and draw down the aqueous (lower) layer into a clean centrifuge tube. Draw down the ethyl acetate layer into a container for disposal. [Pg.59]

Disgorging involves separating the wine from the lees accumulated in the previous step at the neck of the bottle. This deposit of lees is frozen by immersing the bottle in a cryogenic bath. The bottle is then placed upside down, the cap is removed and the pressure inside causes the frozen deposit to be expelled. [Pg.63]

If the results following the triplicate resting are over the fail limit, traditional QA protocols usually require that operations cease. However, the appropriate action taken should depend on the critical nature of the monitored step and other conditions. An alternative to operation shut down may be to segregate and hold the product for enhanced testing for adverse effect go to the CAP. [Pg.2306]

The next step is to put some silicone around the rim of the 1" cap that seats the negative mesh electrode. Take a 1" rubber o-ring, slip it over the mesh and slide it down to the 1" cap, seating it on the cap. The rubber o-ring will steady and keep the mesh electrode straight. It is important for the mesh electrode to stand straight up and not be seated at an angle. [Pg.116]

This step requires you to be quick. Drop the broken antacid tablet into the container, then quickly close the lid and place the canister on the ground with the cap side down. Stand back a good distance, and wait for the rocket to launch. The Alka-Seltzer will react with the water in a reaction that produces carbon dioxide gas. The pressure of this gas will build and build until it exerts a force so great that it will blast the canister off of the cap, shooting the canister into the air. [Pg.309]

I recall the case of a miner who was working in an underground area where there was no illumination. The only source of light was from his cap lamp. The walking surface was full of mud and covered with a layer of muddy water. One day, while walking down this drift, he stepped into an 18-inch hole hidden by the muddy water, twisted his ankle, and fell to the ground in pain. Despite his immense pain, he continued to work for the next 6 hours until he collapsed in agony and called for help. [Pg.66]

Transfer 4-mL aliquots of yeast extract broth to test tubes, insert Durham vial (open-side down) into tubes, cap (see Step 2) and autoclave. [Pg.106]
