Staphylococcus aureus minimal inhibitory concentration

A sensitive and simple chemiluminescent (CL) method for measuring antioxidant activity was developed. The determination of TEAC (Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity) is based on the inhibition of CL intensity of luminol by an antioxidant. Antimicrobial activity was tested as a minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) by broth microdilution method on gram-positive Enterococcus faecalis. Staphylococcus aureus) and gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli) bacterial strains. [Pg.279]

It has been discovered by a number of researchers " , that microorganisms generally develop a limited degree of resistance to the nitrofurans. Micro-organisms that are transferred repeatedly into culture media containing nitrofurazone require higher minimal inhibitory concentrations later on. The increased concentration is usually 10 times, rarely 50 times higher. There are, however, exceptions resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to nitrofurazone and Staphylococcus aureus to nitrofurantoin were observed in vitro. Repeated transfers of Escherichia coli will increase the minimal inhibitory concentration of nitrofurantoin by about 35 times. Much work... [Pg.344]

C. beijerinckii is also a producer of clostrubin, an exceptional polyphenolic polyketide antibiotic [26]. Small doses (0.12-0.97 pM minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC)) of clostrubin inhibit growth ofvarious pathogenic bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus, and mycobacteria [26]. [Pg.331]

It is found that minimally inhibitoiy concentration of liposomal antibiotic solution with the neutral charge (lecithin liposomes) decreased in three times in comparison with minimally inhibitory concentration of the lincomycin solution concerning Staphylococcus aureus. [Pg.136]
