Monomer emulsions ate prepared in separate stainless steel emulsification tanks that are usually equipped with a turbine agitator, manometer level gage, cooling cods, a sprayer inert gas, temperature recorder, mpture disk, flame arrester, and various nossles for charging the ingredients. Monomer emulsions are commonly fed continuously to the reactor throughout the polymerisation. [Pg.169]

The layout of a field study site needs to be established based on the study objectives. Typically, several lines of sample will be laid out in the downwind direction from the application area, perpendicular to the sprayer travel direction assuming a cross-wind normal to the application direction. Three or more parallel lines will provide useful information on spray deposition in the sampling area. If wind directions may be variable, these lines can be set up in various directions radiating outwards from the application area. [Pg.977]

Various types of sprayers and pneumatic nozzles which allow us to produce finely dispersed gas-liquid jets and aerosols with drops 500-10 pm in diameter are used to create coatings. Two ways of producing finely dispersed jets are known ... [Pg.163]

The reprocessor receives baled bottles from a collection company. The bales are opened and conveyed to a grinder. Workers stand by the conveyer and remove undesirable items such as cans, pumps, sprayers, and closures. They can also sort various fractions from the conveyor, such as black, white, natural, or various color sorts. [Pg.354]

Hypochlorite hard surface and drain cleaner compositions exhibiting enhanced extensional viscosity are mentioned in U.S. Patents 5,728,665 and 5,916,859. The viscoelastic compositions are intended for use with trigger sprayers and the hexa-decyl amineoxide/organic counterion compositions provide low bleach odor and reduced spray misting. The patent contains extensional viscosity data in support of the claims. Viscosity as a function of shear rate at various Cm diphenyloxide disulfonate concentrations is shown in Figure 4.5. Examples of steady shear and extensional viscosity as a function of shear rate and extensional rate are shown in Figure 4.6 and Figure 4.7. [Pg.83]

In evaluating the results of an epidemiologic study, it is important to examine the extent of exposure of the subjects. "Exposure" is defined by the researchers and is specific only to that study. For example, in some cohort studies of chemical workers the exposure has been defined as assignment to the TCP or 2,4,5-T production processes. In other studies, the definition of exposure has been less specific for example, in some cohort studies of herbicide sprayers, all sprayers have been considered "exposed" even though the authors have no knowledge whether the various herbicides sprayed by a particular individual included 2,4,5-T. [Pg.148]

The applications of isokinetic sampling cover but are not limited to the sampling of aerosols such as flu gas in chimney, soots (unbumed carbons) from diesel engine exhaust, dusts suspended in the atmosphere, and fumes from various sprayers measurements of particulate mass fluxes in pneumatic transport pipelines and other particulate pipe flows solid fuel (also some liquid fuels) distributions in furnaces, engines, and other types of combustors and calibrations of instruments for the measurements of particle mass concentrations. Isokinetic sampling can also be applied to flows with liquid droplets. In this case, the droplet sample is usually collected by an immiscible liquid (Koo et al., 1992 Zhang and Ishii, 1995). [Pg.12]

Trichothecene mycotoxins can be delivered as dusts, droplets, aerosols, or smoke from aircraft, rockets, missiles, artillery, mines, or portable sprayers. Because of their antipersonnel properties, ease of large-scale production, and apparent proven delivery by various aerial dispersal systems, the trichothecene mycotoxins (especially T-2 toxin) have an excellent potential for weaponization. [Pg.658]

Formulation Application. The application of the formulations in the garden is summarized in Table IV. The amounts of wettable powder and aqueous suspension solutions applied from a pressurized hand-held sprayer by the various volunteers was pretty constant over the 15 minute period. Ue had, for better or worse, kept the pressure in the tank at a nearly constant level the sprayer was usually pumped up once during the spray period. The mean volume sprayed was 2.8 L for com and 2.9 L for beans (which is approximately 0.75 of a gallon). The range of the volumes dispensed was 1.7 to 3.6 L. In noting the ranges, there was little difference between the two formulations, as expected. There was also little difference in the ranges of spray volume dispensed on beans verses corn. [Pg.144]
