Sparing

For critical service and service required frequent maintenance, a spare pump is provided, sometimes with a different power source. Examples are reflux pump, high temperature service pump, and sluny pump. For batch or intermittent operation, usually no spare pump is provided. [Pg.26]

Unfortunately, the overall design problem is even more complex in practice. Spare driving forces in the process could be exploited equally well to allow the use of moderate utilities or the integration of heat engines, heat pumps, etc. in preference to distillation integration. [Pg.353]

C2H4N2O3, NH2CONHCOOH. Unknown in the free state as it breaks down immediately to urea and COi- The NH4, Ba, Ca, K and Na salts are known and are prepared by treating ethyl allophanate with the appropriate hydroxide. The esters with alcohols and phenols are crystalline solids, sparingly soluble in water and alcohol. They are formed by passing cyanic acid into alcohols or a solution of an alcohol or phenol in benzene. The amide of allophanic acid is biuret. Alcohols are sometimes isolated and identified by means of their allophanates. [Pg.22]

C4H6N2O2. Sublimes 260"C sparingly soluble in water hydrolysed by alkalis or mineral acids to glycylglycine. It and substituted dike-topiperazines are formed by the condensation of amino-acids, and are obtained in small quantities on the hydrolysis of proteins. [Pg.140]

Greenish-yellow needles or prisms, m.p. 148-149 C, sparingly soluble in cold water. Gives crystalline condensation products with aldehydes. [Pg.140]

C7H6O5. Colourless crystals with one molecule of water, m.p. 253" C, sparingly soluble in water and alcohol. It occurs free in woody tissue, in gall-nuts and in tea, and is a constituent of the tannins, from which it can be obtained by fermentation or by acid hydrolysis. It gives a blue-black colour with Fe and is used in the manufacture 6f inks. On heating it gives pyrogallol. [Pg.185]

Lead II) chloride, PbCl2. Insoluble cold water, sparingly soluble hot. Matlockite is PbFCl. PbCL forms many complex chlorides and also basic chlorides. Cassel yellow (approx. PbCl2 7PbO) is prepared by fusion of the constituents and is used as a pigment. [Pg.237]

CH OfiSj, H2C(S03H)2- a colourless, crystalline solid which readily absorbs water vapour decomposes on distillation. The potassium salt is prepared by heating methylene chloride with an aqueous solution of potassium sulphite under pressure at 150-I60" C. The free acid is obtained by decomposing the sparingly soluble barium salt with sulphuric acid. The aryl esters are very stable, but the alkyl esters decompose on heating to give ethers. Resembles malonic acid in some of its reactions. [Pg.259]

Colourless crystals m.p. 50 C, b.p. 301 C. Basic and forms sparingly soluble salts with mineral acids. Prepared by the reduction of 1-nitronaphthalene with iron and a trace of hydrochloric acid or by the action of ammonia upon l-naphlhol at a high temperature and pressure. [Pg.270]

The failure mode of an equipment item describes the reason for the failure, and is often determined by analysing what causes historic failures in the particular item. This is another good reason for keeping records of the performance of equipment. For example, if it is recognised that a pump typically fails due to worn bearings after 8,000 hours in operation, a maintenance strategy may be adopted which replaces the bearings after 7,000 hours if that pump is a critical item. If a spare pump is available as a back-up, then the policy may be to allow the pump to run to failure, but keep a stock of spare parts to allow a quick repair. [Pg.288]

For some cheap, easily replaceable equipment, it may be more economic to do no maintenance at all, and in this case the item may be replaced on failure or at planned intervals. If the equipment is more highly critical, availability of spares and rapid replacement must be possible. [Pg.288]

The Supplement B (reference) contains a description of the process to render an automatic construction of mathematical models with the application of electronic computer. The research work of the Institute of the applied mathematics of The Academy of Sciences ( Ukraine) was assumed as a basis for the Supplement. The prepared mathematical model provides the possibility to spare strength and to save money, usually spent for the development of the mathematical models of each separate enterprise. The model provides the possibility to execute the works standard forms and records for the non-destructive inspection in complete correspondence with the requirements of the Standard. [Pg.26]

For precise 3D-FEM simulations, a huge number of nodes is required (>30,000), which results in calculation times of several hours (sun spare 20) for one model. In order to decrease the number of nodes, we took advantage of the symmetry of the coils and calculated only a quarter or half of the test object. The modelled crack has a lenght of 15 mm, a height of 3 mm and is in a depth of 5 mm. The excitation frequency was 200 Hz. [Pg.259]

While with-in the mobile x-ray system, the waste in the sampler, is contained within a replaceable (and disposable) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sleeve with a wall thickness of approximately 0.2-inches and a sealed bottom. It was anticipated that the PVC tube or sleeve would, with use, become highly contaminated with waste residues which drip of fall-off the sampler. The sleeve is coated with a conductive coating to prevent static electricity buildup . There are no sources of ignition in this sealed spare. The sampler (and waste) is coupling which includes a positive pressure gasket. This barrier is further isolated by a second barrier consisting of an epoxy coated aluminum sleeve also sealed-off from the main x-ray cabinet and PVC sleeve. There are also no potential sources of ignition in this isolated secondary space as well. [Pg.611]

The experimental investigations are carried out in order to get an idea about the variations of the visibility of the indications during practical inspections. The specimen where a test piece with spare eroded artificial defects (Width 25 pm depth d = 30, 60, 120 pm) and other specimen with natural cracks, a forged steering lever and a weld. As an example, in Fig 4 the steering lever with 2 cracks can be seen and below the dependance on the visibilty of a weak indication and a part of the bright indications on the field strenght H. [Pg.674]
