Spaciousness

In the same year as Kuezynski s research was published, Shaler (1949), who had done excellent work on measuring surface energies and surface tensions on solid metals, argued that surface tension must play a major part in fostering shrinkage of powder compacts during sintering his paper (Shaler 1949) led to a lively discussion, a feature of published papers in those more spacious days. 

People make decisions to fly based on speed, the price of the flight, and an airline s on-time arrival. If these factors are the same, then secondary concerns such as comfort become a factor—fewer seats with more spacious seating, and more room to walk about. Since greater comfort means fewer paying passengers, the airlines decision to cater to the desire for comfort will adversely affect fuel economy per passenger. 

The selectivity of the gas phase amination is highly dependent on the type of zeolite as shown in Figure 11 for five zeolites all containing 3 wt % of Cu. When the zeolite becomes more spacious (L, Beta) the consecutive reaction increases which is understandable. Over Cu-Y reduction predominates. 

The reason is truncation of dynamics in low-resolution modes in a 14-bit-detector each pixel in low-resolution mode can contain 0 to 16382 counts. With the next photon an arithmetic overflow will occur and the pixel is saturated. In high-resolution mode the same area of the detector is represented by 4 pixels, and if the intensity is evenly distributed it takes 4 times longer before the pixels will be saturated. If the high resolution is not required and the cycle time is 30 s or longer, it is good practice to store away the big files on a spacious USB hard-disk and afterwards to bin the data. 

The cucurbit [n]uril family (CB[n]) of molecular containers possess remarkable binding affinities and selectivities (Ka values up to 1012M-1, Krei values up to 106) which renders them useful as a component of molecular machines, sensors, and biomimetic systems (123-125). Recently, Wagner and coworkers have reported (126) that CB[10] - with its spacious 870A3 cavity - is capable of acting as a host for free base and metalated tetra (Af-methylpyridinium)porphyrins 19a-d (Fig. 17). Despite the large ellipsoidal deformation of CB[10] upon complexation, the complexed porphyrins retain their fundamental UV/VIS, fluorescence, and electrochemical properties. A diverse coordination chemistry is emerging for bismuth(III) made possible by a spacious and flexible coordination environment, allowing for coordination numbers in excess of 9. Although the available data are still limited, distinct trends are evident, and the polymeric solid-state features that may be assumed on the basis of high coordination numbers can be mediated by appropriate selection of organic-based ligands. The unusual structural arrangements observed for many types of complex may prove to be representative as the number of examples of such systems increases. 

In another article by Corma et al. (178), ITQ-7, a three-dimensional large-pore zeolite, was tested as an alkylation catalyst and compared with a BEA sample of comparable Si/Al ratio and crystal size. The ratio of the selectivities to 2,2,4-TMP and 2,2,3-TMP, which have the largest kinetic diameter of the TMPs, and 2,3,3-TMP and 2,3,4-TMP, which have the lowest kinetic diameter, was used as a measure of the influence of the pore structure. Lower (2,2,4-TMP + 2,2,3-TMP)/ (2,3,3-TMP + 2,3,4-TMP) ratios in ITQ-7 were attributed to its smaller pore diameter. The bulky isomers have more spacious transition states, so that their formation in narrow pores is hindered moreover, their diffusion is slower. During each interview I stepped out of my role as a counselor, called on my experience as a biographer and created a new role for myself. As a fellow companion and seeker of hope and wisdom I witnessed the following stories told to me in mutually beneficial encounters. These stories of creativity and courage poured out to me in the sacred spaces occupied by chemically-injured people, from tiny oases in the desert to spacious urban homes custom-designed to accommodate the chemically sensitive.

The only way to enter the Nuptial Chamber proper is to become the Magician to take on the mode of consciousness this tarot key represents. 

During the self-induced turmoil and excesses of the Cultural Revolution and its aftermath (1966-1976), the construction industry was crippled and construction of residential housing was brought to a standstill. During the same period, the population increased by 300 million, thus putting severe strains on the already stressed housing situation (where 9 square meters per person is considered spacious). 

Konrad Lorenz was bom in Vienna on November 7, 1903. He was a late child, his brother being 18 years older. His father Prof. Dr. Adolf Lorenz was the founder of orthopedics in Vienna. Konrad grew up in a spacious villa within a magnificent park-like garden. From his early days he was interested in animal behavior, and soon he adhered to the principle of keeping most animals free, though this sometimes created problems for visitors. His brother Albert vividly describes the situation in his autobiography Since in freedom tamed animals lose their fear of man, but at the same time also as a consequence... 

The streetcar suburbs of the following decades offered more land, at lower prices, to a new class of homeowner. This growth was not, however, a simple, inevitable, or natural extension of growing affluence. Rather, as Kenneth Jack-son notes in his comprehensive history of the suburbs, Crahgrass Frontier, it required the emergence of a class of suburban developers and real estate specialists who lobbied municipalities for services, directed the extension of transportation, and drew the new spacious property lines for construction. The central incentive of these entrepreneurs, needless to say, was to convert as much land... 

The new workplace was a suite of rooms in the Medical Center. About 15 researchers and students worked and studied in a total area of no more than 1800 square feet, apportioned among five or six rooms. Dr. Pribram had a small office and the only secretary. A larger room was reserved for a small PDP-8 computer and accompanying files and furniture. There were three other doors behind which laboratory space ranged in size from very small to moderately spacious. As a new post-doc student, dressed in slacks and sweater, I felt like a visitor, rather than a staff member.
