Sort Options

Pressing the Options... button in the Sort dialog box displays the Sort Options dialog box and allows you to change the default sorting options. 

You can choose case-sensitive sorting, in which lowercase letters follow uppercase letters in an ascending sort (AaBbCc. not ABC...abc...). If you choose this option, the sortkeys will also be case-sensitive. 

The Sort Options dialog box contains four lists for custom sorts (other than ascending or descending). For example, you can sort in the order Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, etc. You can create a custom sort order for your own specialized application (go to Creating a custom sort order in Excel s On-line Help for details).

There are a number of toxicology databases available on the internet, and recently there has been an amalgamation of the best in the form of TOXNET (http //toxnet.nlm. nih.gov/), a cluster of databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas. The web site provides access to an impressive array of files containing factual information related to the toxicity and other hazards of chemicals. Users can readily extract toxicology data and literature references, as well as toxic release information, on particular chemicals. Alternately, one can perform a search with subject terms to identify chemicals that cause certain effects. A variety of display and sorting options are available. 

The data are sorted in ascending order in column A. If the data were added to the spreadsheet in random order this could be done using the Sort... option in the Data menu. The function RANK we shall use does not need sorted data, but it is useful for us to see the sorted data. 

In the course of carrying through an equipment selection of this sort, several options may be tried. It is essential to make a final check on those selected to ensure that the correct balance has been achieved. Predicted balance figures should be noted, to guide the final commissioning process and subsequent operation.

The user can find suitable materials in a number of different ways. For instance any of the above measurands can be chosen and a search made within a specific matrix type. A list of the measurand values in all materials of the selected matrix classification sorted by decreasing concentration will be produced, including the uncertainties in percent, the certification status and the material identification code. Other search methods are possible, selection by material gives a table with values of all measurands in the chosen material in alphabetical order and additional information about the price, the unit size, the issuing date, the supphers and the exact material name. A further option is to list all materials from a producer. 

Because some sort of valuation and ranking of options always have and always will take place in decision making. The choice is between using economic values derived in a consistent and transparent way (environmental economics approach), or to use arbitrary and random economic or other values estimated in a case-by-case setting. And the authors of this chapter are in favour of a transparent approach that is open for improvements. 

As reviewed above, when a solute is placed in a dielectric medium, it electrically polarizes that medium. The polarized medium produces a local electrostatic field at the site of the solute, this field polarizes the solute, and the polarized solute interacts with the polarized medium. The interaction is typically too large to be treated by perturbation theory, and some sort of self-consistent treatment of polarized solute and polarized medium is more appropriate. Special attention needs to be put on the possibility of contamination with PVC. The latter decomposes under SSP conditions and produces hydrochloric acid, which has to be eliminated from the process gas stream to protect the processing equipment [123], The PVC residues will manifest themselves as black non-melting particles in the downstream process. There is an option to eliminate the decomposed PVC residue by colour sorting after the SSP process. 

Not all chemical plants have all these facilities. Furtherriiore, some plants have processes to convert butanes to butadienes others convert them the other way. The best way to sort out the options is to treat them one at a time. 

On weed-free ground, a loose mulch, 4 in (10 cm) deep, will provide effective weed control. Any weeds that may appear are easily removed. An organic, biodegradable material is the preferred organic option as a bonus, this sort of mulch will attract beetles, centipedes, and other pest-eating creatures that enjoy the dark, moist conditions.
