In other cases, there is no strong need to construct a business model before you get on with a component spec, particularly if the software focuses on only one aspect of a very general business. Sometimes it is useful to create the static part of the business model, without any collaborations. For example, before designing a word processor, you first define what a document is. This is the business world in this case—the subject matter with which the software will deal but modeled separately from any concerns of what the software will do with it. It refers to the way informahon within a text file is saved. Because ASCII is a widely accepted standard (and understood by word processors, text editors, e-mail programs, applicant-tracking programs, etc.), using it increases your chances that the electronic resume you create will be compahble with the computer systems and software in use by potential employers. [Pg.137]

Aside from general-purpose word processors, there are a handful of off-the-shelf software packages designed specifically for creating, formatting, and printing resumes. These packages are available wherever software is sold, and some can be purchased and downloaded off the Internet. [Pg.141]

If using Microsoft Word (or another popular word processor) to create your resume, ACT 2000, one of the best contact management and scheduling software packages on the market, can also be used to make your whole job search easier. [Pg.153]

Software tools do not require validation if they are incidental to the creation of regulated records that are subsequently maintained in traditional paper-based systems. Workspaces can be used as a personal workspace replacing the local file system on a desktop computer or as shared workspaces for a team. A methods file is created for each analysis to specify the standard conditions to be used such as autosampler sequence, use of blanks and QA samples, column temperature programme, mobile phase composition and flow-rate, split ratios, mass range to be scanned, scan rate and sample identification codes. A methods menu leads the analyst through the full set-up sequence. Methods are filed for future reference and for use in routine analysis. The software can be linked to other standard packages such as word processors so the methods data can be linked to the results file and then transferred to the analytical report. [Pg.386]
