Sodium drugs containing

Twelve phenobarbital sodium suppositories containing 60 mg of drug each weigh 24 g. The mold of suppository used was 2 g. [Pg.193]

Caffeine is derived by extraction of coffee beans, tea leaves, and kola nuts. It is also prepared synthetically. Much of the caffeine of commerce is a by-product of decaffeinized coffee manufacture. The compound is purified by a series of recrystallizations. Caffeine finds use in medicine and in soft drinks. Caffeine is also available as the hydrobromide and as sodium benzoate, winch is a mixture of caffeine and sodium benzoate, containing 47-50% anhydrous caffeine and 50-53% sodium benzoate. This mixture is more soluble in water than pure caffeine. A number of nonprescription (pain relief) drugs contain caffeine as one of several ingiedients. Caffeine is a known cardiac stimulant and in some persons who consume significant amounts, caffeine can produce ventricular premature beats. [Pg.50]

The primary antacids can be classified as aluminum-containing, magnesium-containing, calcium carbonate-containing, sodium bicarbonate-containing, or a combination of any of these classifications. These drugs are typically taken orally, either as tablets or as a liquid oral suspension. [Pg.390]

Diltiazem hydrochloride and its related compounds can be separated in both bulk drug and finished tablets using a Waters pBondapak C18 column (10 pm particle size, 300 mm x 3.9 mm I.D.) and a mobile phase of buffer methanol acetonitrile (50 25 25, v/v) at a flow rate of about 1.6 mL/minute. The buffer is 0.1 M aqueous sodium acetate containing 5mM d-camphorsulfonic acid (99%) adjusted to pH 6.2 with 0.1 M aqueous sodium hydroxide. Detection of the compounds is achieved using UV absorbance at 240 nm. The method provides for the resolution of trans-diltiazem and seven known and unidentified related compounds. Diltiazem hydrochloride elutes at approximately 21 minutes under these conditions. The minimum detectable amounts are less than 0.1% for all related compounds except for one of the synthetic intermediates for which there is a limit of about 2% (27). [Pg.81]

Many drugs contain the indole-ring as their core structures. Fluvastatin sodium (Lescol) is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. [Pg.10]

The physician orders oxacillin sodium 125 mg FO oral suspension. The drug is labeled as 250 mg/5 mL.The 5 mL is the amount (quantity or Q) that contains 250 mg of the drug. [Pg.41]

Do not mix dopamine with other drug , especially sodium bicarbonate or odier alkaline intravenous (IV) solutions. Check with the hospital pharmacist before adding a second drug to an IV solution containing this drug. [Pg.206]

D Diarrhea related to adverse reactions ot magnesium- or sodium-containing antadds or other digestive system drugs... [Pg.479]

Do not use the drug indiscriminately. Check with a primary health care provider before using an antacid if other medical problems, such as a cardiac condition (some laxatives contain sodium), exist. [Pg.482]

Sodium-containing drugs (e.g., carbenicillin disodium, ticarcillin disodium)... [Pg.40]
