Sociological factors

The development of alcohol dependence is an unsolved problem. It does seem that single-cause" theories are inadequate to explain the etiology of alcohol dependence. Instead, it is necessary to incorporate biological, psychological, and sociological factors. 

Those who chose to participate in a research study perceived that there was no risk of harm associated with participation. Parental age affects perceptions of risk parents who were older (over 30 years) assessed the risks as significantly lower than their younger counterparts (Tait et al., 2004). Furthermore, those who had experience of participation in clinical research had a more positive outlook than those did not have research experience. Sociological factors may have some influence on parental participation in clinical studies. One study has indicated that parents with a higher socioeconomic status and more social support were less motivated to contribute to medical research (Harth and Thong, 1990). 

Protection from heat, flame, molten metal splashes, severe cold and frost, radiation sources, and so on are prime requirements for both civil and defence applications. Incarcerated individuals have a two to four fold greater prevalence of epilepsy, however, a relationship between criminal acts and seizure activity is seldom demonstrated (Marsh and Krauss, 2000). Aggression in seizure-disordered patients is often directed in nature, occurring during the interictal period, in response to a social context, likely related to general brain dysfunction rather than to seizure activity. Until recently researchers and clinicians alike usually sought a single-factor explanation of what causes alcohol problems. Theories frequently outpaced data available to evaluate them and can be cla.ssificd as biological, psychological, or sociological. 

In spite of these works, giving a clear definition of social acceptance is still difficult. Only case studies are available and each one refers to singular factors. In fact, social acceptance is not a concept but a very practical - but imprecise - notion. Surrounding this notion needs a large overview of works, in sociological and political fields and also in marketing issues.
