Skeletal index

ETA indices are an extension of the TAU indices (or Topochemically Arrived Unique indices) [Pal, Purkayastha et al, 1992 Pal, Sengupta et al, 1988,1989,1990], which were defined some years before in the framework of a previous version of the Valence Electron Mobile environment (VEM environment). TAU indices are calculated from previous definitions of core count and VEM count and include four indices the composite topochemical index, denoted by T (similar to the composite ETA index), the functionality index, denoted by F, the skeletal index, denoted by Tr, and the simple branching index, denoted by B. In QSAR studies, these indices were used in combination with —> STIMS indices, connectivity indices, and some information indices [Roy, Pal et al, 1999, 2001]. [Pg.296]

Creatine kinase, creatine kinase myocardial band Creatine kinase (CK) enzymes are found in many isoforms, with varying concentrations depending on the type of tissue. Creatine kinase is a general term used to describe the nonspecific total release of all types of CK, including that found in skeletal muscle (MM), brain (BB) and heart (MB). CK MB is released into the blood from necrotic myocytes in response to infarction and is a useful laboratory test for diagnosing myocardial infarction. If the total CK is elevated, then the relative index (RI), or fraction of the total that is composed of CK MB, is calculated as follows RI = (CK MB/CK total) x 100. An RI greater than 2 is typically diagnostic of infarction. [Pg.1563]

Hepatic Effects. DNOC is a yellow compound that stains human (Hunter 1950) and animal (Ambrose 1942) skin on contact. Absorption of DNOC by any route and subsequent distribution to tissues results in a characteristic yellow staining of visceral organs and tissues including the conjunctiva and sclera of the eye (Ibrahim et al. 1934 Pollard and Filbee 1951), blood serum, skeletal tissue, and urine (Ambrose 1942). The yellow staining of the skin and sclera of patients exposed to DNOC prompted physicians to test for liver effects.
