SILVER LINING

Bonded silver linings are fabricated for mild steel or copper vessels. They are soldered in situ to the walls of the vessel by means of a special tin-silver solder. The melting point of this solder is approximately 280°C, and 200°C is recommended as the maximum continuous operating temperature for linings bonded with it. Since the whole of the silver is firmly adherent to the vessel, bonded linings are suitable for operation under vacuum conditions, and provide excellent heat-transfer characteristics.

Silver linings are used for vessels and equipment handling hydrofluoric acid. It is also used for special applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries where it is vital to avoid contamination of the product.

Every silver lining has a cloud. More often than not, compounds recrystallized from a mixed-solvent system don t form crystals. Your compound may form an oil instead. 

It will take some practice to build this hall imaginatively and establish it firmly. Figure 2 may be useful for memorizing the various details (see above). You will know you have succeeded when the symbols spontaneously emit light and radiance within the meditation. This indicates that the details are now fixed, that they have been accepted by your personal subconscious. For example, you may find yourself gazing with pleasure at the way the twelve silver lines on the table s surface gleam in... 

The production of Ag Carbon nanocables was reported by Yu et al. [20]. In this case the authors used the hydrothermal carbonization of starch in the presence of Ag N03 leading to the one-step formation of carbon/Ag hybrid nanocables. Such silver-carbon nanocables can have a length as long as 10 mm and overall diameters of 1 micron with a 200-250 nm silver lining. When made at higher concentrations, they tend to fuse with each other (Fig. 7.5(a) and (b)). This method was extended to a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)-assisted synthesis of flexible noble metal (Ag, Cu) carbon composite microcables [21].

Determination of Benzidine in Hair Dyes. Experiments were conducted to determine whether or not benzidine could be detected in benzidine based dyes and/or hair dye products containing benzidine based dyes. The benzidine based dye Direct Blue 6 was obtained commercially as were two shades of a particular hair dye product. One shade, "Lucky Copper , contained Direct Blue 6 whereas another shade, Silver Lining", did not contain any benzidine based dyes. 

Another helpful habit is trying to emphasize the good that often eventually comes from initially stressful situations. Many clouds do have a silver lining, and we would all do well to spend more time thinking about the eventual positive consequences of today s mishaps. Moreover, we should make efforts to see the current good in bad situations. The doughnut may presently have too large a hole, but there is still an edible portion.

Ethylene glycol and urea under pressure. Two charges, each composed of 60 g. (1 mole) of urea and 62 g. (1 mole) of ethylene glycol, were processed in similar silver-lined bombs of 325-cc. capacity at 275° and a pressure estimated to have been 400 atm. for 3 hrs. The bombs were allowed to cool to room temperature and discharged. The combined products were distilled under reduced pressure and 35% of the ethylene glycol was recovered. Ethyleneurea, b.p. 150—170°/1—2 mm., was obtained which, after crystallization from chloroform, amounted to 51 g. for a net yield of 47%, based on ethylene glycol. 

This liquid (370 g.) was hydrolyzed by heating it with an equal weight of water to 250° for 2 hrs. in an agitated 800-cc. silver-lined bomb under an autogenous pressure of 925 atm. The resulting product was distilled. Ethylenediamine in 10% yield, based upon ethanolamine, was obtained in the first fraction. The pressure was reduced and 155 g. of ethyleneurea, m.p. 126—129°, distilling at 170—180°/4 mm. was obtained crude yield, 55%, based upon ethanolamine. 

Ethanolamine and urea under pressure. A mixture consisting of 60 g. (1 mole) of urea, 61 g. (1.0 mole) of ethanolamine, and 85 g. (5.0 moles) of ammonia was processed in a silver-lined bomb at 300° under a pressure of 930 atm. for 10 min. The product was distilled 12.0 g. of ethanolamine was recovered together with 59 g. of crude ethyleneurea. One recrystallization from chloroform gave 35 g., m.p. ca. 123°. Assuming this product to be 75% pure, the net yield, based upon ethanolamine, was 38%.

No other health care innovation or service has been held to a higher standard of evidence than the practice of pharmaceutical care. Few — if any ofher — health care professions have been required to demonstrate that their services not only improve care delivered to patients but also save money. Even when the debate over inclusion of chiropractic care services in health benefit plans transpired, it was more overwhelming public testimony rather than economic cost-savings data that persuaded third-party payers to begin covering these services. Although it is easy to say that this is unfair, fhe silver lining is that as pharmaceutical care becomes a more widely covered service, the profession of pharmacy will be well prepared to answer the call for accounf-ability of oufcomes.
