Copolymers siloxane

Carbaborane-Siloxane Copolymers —A comprehensive review has appeared of these commercially important copolymers. A new and convenient synthetic route to Dj-ffi-carbaborane-siloxane polymers has been reported, in which the copolymer is produced in a one pot synthesis from m-carbaborane by reaction with n-butyl-lithium to form its dilithio salt, and this then allowed to react with 1,5-dichlorotrisiloxane to give the desired polymer. Using n.m.r. to monitor the reaction stoicheiometry, polymers with high molecular weights of 2S0 000 have been prepared. Mild reaction conditions readily allow structural modifications to be made to the polymer to overcome [Pg.214]

Finkelmann et al. 256 274,2781 have also investigated the synthesis and the characteristics of siloxane based, crosslinked, liquid crystalline polymers. This new type of materials displays both liquid crystallinity and rubber elasticity. The synthesis of these networks is achieved by the hydrosilation of dimethylsiloxane-(hydrogen, methyl)siloxane copolymers and vinyl terminated mesogenic molecules in the presence of low molecular weight a,co-vinyl terminated dimethylsiloxane crosslinking agents156 ... [Pg.49]

The films were then thermally cycled at tOO, 200 and 300°C for an hour at each temperature in a forced air convection oven to complete the cyclization. The solution imidization procedure has been further described by Summers, et. al. (42,43). A representative structure for the poly(imide siloxane) copolymers is depicted in Figure 5. [Pg.193]

Fused silica capillary columns of various internal bores and of lengths in the range 25 to 50 m are mainly employed for analytical separations. A variety of polar and non-polar column types are available including those open tubular types with simple wall coatings (WCOT), those with coatings dispersed on porous solid-supports to increase adsorbent surface area (SCOT) and porous layer open tubular (PLOT) columns. Important stationary phases include polyethylene glycol, dimethylpolysiloxane and different siloxane copolymers. Various sample introduction procedures are employed including ... [Pg.565]

Thermoplastics for aircraft interiors have been evaluated by this technique (10b) in accordance with the FAA specification (peak rate of heat release of 65 kilowatts per meter squared (Kw/m 2) or less). In these tests (10b) Polyether sulfone demonstrated marginal compliance. For Polyether imide (PHI) and PEI/Polydimethyl siloxane copolymers peak heat-release rates were well below the specified value. The overall trend suggested a possible correlation of peak heat release values with aromatic carbon content in the polymers evaluated. [Pg.244]

Resist solutions of o-cresol novolac-siloxane copolymers were prepared as 15 w/v % solutions of the polymer in 2-methoxyethyl acetate using 20 wt % (based on polymer) of the positive sensitizer. Poly(hydroxystyrene) and 2-methyl resorcinol copolymers were spun into films from 2-methyl tetrahydrofuran. Solutions were filtered through successive 1.0, 0.5 and 0.2 pm filters and stored in... [Pg.159]
