Setting your objectives

Molecular dynamics simulations can overcome energy barriers and provide information about the time-dependent motion of molecu lar system s. You can use various strategies to set up an d run a molecular dynamics simulation, depending on your objective. Th IS section defines man y of these strategies and discusses specific consideration s in settingup a simulation. 

The schemes introduced here were implemented to achieve different objectives. All schemes tended to define their objectives very well, making them quite explicit, which is generally considered best practice. This helps, for example, to define the boundaries of the scheme, and it provides the initiative with focus and momentum. Setting precise objectives also implies that your mentee target group will be well defined - an aspect that featured in virtually all schemes - i.e. programs were not typically open to anyone. ... 

There are no primitives in Catalysis, only a set of basic object types that are defined in standard packages. Using exactly the same mechanisms, you can define your own basic types and packages of basic types suitable for your problem domain (see Figure A.2). Remember to add uniqueness constraints, which help define the meaning of object identity for your object type. There are frameworks, algebraic in nature, that capture even these basic recurring patterns. 

The objectives that you develop, and the steps that you choose to take to accomplish these objectives, should be specific and measurable actions that move you toward your goal. They must be attainable and yet challenging. Use the clearest possible wording, so that your supervisors and employees understand their responsibility and accountability. Once your program is set in motion, periodically review your objectives and your action plan. Is everyone performing as expected Are the results being...

When setting objectives, solicit input from as wide a range of employees as practical. Your ideas already may strongly influence your supervisors. Nonetheless, you will And that safety and health objectives are most effective when you discuss them beforehand with your supervisors or employees. At the least, secure their agreement or cooperation. People who feel they have helped set an objective will be most motivated to achieve that objective. 

By conducting the assessment against these two sets of criteria you can accomplish two objectives identifying the existence and current status of your company s PSM management systems, and evaluating them against good practice. 

The assessment must be designed to be as objective as possible. An assessment that lacks objectivity may yield questionable results. For example, someone who has been involved in the development or use of a management process is less likely to see weaknesses than an independent observer. When selecting your assessment team, make sure to include staff who will not take things for granted and will bring a fresh set of eyes and ears. 

Depending on how many different samples of behavior you have the patience to analyze (and other factors, some of which, such as how representative the initial states in these samples are of the set of all possible initial states, may be beyond your control), you may or may not get a fairly complete picture of what kinds of objects exist and what sorts of interactions are allowed in this one-dimensional alien universe. At worst, you will grow tired long before you have had the chance to record even a small fraction of the total number of possible states in this world. 

Provide you with a framework for the design and implementation of the scheme. For example, by researching the needs of your employees, you will find it easier to set effective program objectives and to identify your mentee target group. 

As a real-world example, if you describe what it means to be a parent, you re talking largely about your interactions with your children and the effects you have on one another. When you describe what it means to be an employee, that s a different role with a different set of interactions with an object described in different terms. But although the collaborations can be described separately, the fact is that every object usually plays a role in several collaborations perhaps you are both a parent and an employee. Each object conforms to the spec of its roles in the various collaborations it takes part in. 

The idea is to gain the benefits of 00, but without throwing away old code. You want to be able to make systems that remain flexible as your organization and its structure and working methods change. You want to build many applications from a set of basic components. These are features of object-oriented designs.
