Saw Safety

Use repeatedly, sharpen as needed, replace small parts that wear out (saw, safety razor). 

In the example company that developed this lean design process, its use commences when an assumption is made that a project is of such magnitude that it will require following the steps outlined in its Request for Capital Expenditure Procedure. For purchases below the capital expenditure request level, the basics in the process are applied, but not as extensively. For example, if the machine shop supervisor submits a request to purchase a metal cutting saw, safety considerations would be established and they would have to be reviewed by environmental, health, and safety professionals as well as more than one level of management. Those safety requirements would be included in the purchase order. After receipt and installation of the equipment, a safety validation would be made. 

The citations also covered six serious violations. These included guarding, ladders, saw safety guides, and training in the bloodborne pathogen standard. Wilful violations are those involving intentional disregard or plain indifference to the requirements laid down in the Occupational Safety and Health Act, while serious violations are those where there is a substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result and the employer knew or should have known of the hazard.

An extremely important safety issue with respect to ah. wood product manufacturing processes is personal worker safety. Ah of the processes use much moving machinery, usuahy including many saws or knives. Workers must continuahy remember the inherent dangers these machines involve as weh as other possible dangerous situations which could result from malfunctions or other errors. In addition, most processes are more or less dusty and noisy. Most employers require use of safety glasses and many require hearing protection, safety shoes, and hardhats as weh as other kinds of protection needed for Specific jobs. 

The SAW match is similar to the safety match except that it is richer in fuel, and gives a billowing somewhat wind-resistant flame. The phosphoms sulfide [1314-85-8] in the tip provides the ignitabiUty on any soHd surface, and a Httle of the same material in the base bulb adds to wind resistance, but otherwise the base is underbalanced in active materials to prevent self-ignition from mbbing during transportation. 

Personnel. More than any other area, we are often asked "How many people has your corporation added due to TSCA " I don t know of anyone who has a concise answer to this question. Complicating the situation is the fact that the 1960 s and 1970 s saw a number of environmental and health laws go into effect the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Federal Water Pollution Control Act, TSCA, Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Hazardous Materials Transportation Act, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, to mention the major ones. This mixture of acts, with some similarities of purpose, developing within a time span of 10-15 years, has made a variety of similar demands. It is not easy at this point to attribute the addition of staff support personnel to an individual law such as TSCA.
