When the SAS macro language is used judiciously, it can be a powerful ally. SAS macros should be written so that they are not overly complicated, and they should always be the best-documented SAS programming code in any application. There is no worse fate than to be handed a complex SAS macro program with insufficient documentation. For more information about sound SAS macro programming practices, you can refer to the SAS Press books Carpenter s Complete Guide to the SAS Macro Language, by Art Carpenter, and SAS Macro Programming Made Easy, by Michele Burlew. [Pg.17]

You should read Technical Support Note TS-230 Dealing with Numeric Representation Error in SAS Applications to learn more about SAS floating-point numbers and storage precision in SAS. Another good resource for rounding issues is Ron Cody s SAS Functions by Example (SAS Press, 2004). In short, whenever you perform comparisons on numbers that are not integers, you should consider using the ROUND function. [Pg.118]

Note that adding these two shaded lines of code to your SAS procedure gives you an attractive RTF file. If you do not like the default ODS style template that SAS uses for your output, you can use a different style template supplied by SAS by specifying the STYLE= option in the ODS RTF statement. If you still do not like the way your RTF file looks, you can define your own ODS style template with PROC TEMPLATE. Finally, PROC REPORT allows you to define formatting elements within the SAS procedure itself, where you can customize the appearance of almost any element on the page. For more information about ODS, you can refer to the SAS Press books Output Delivery System The Basics, by Lauren Haworth, and Quick Results with the Output Delivery System, by Sunil Gupta. If you just want more style templates to choose from, you can investigate the templates created by Bernadette Johnson in Instant ODS Style Templates for the SAS Output Delivery System. [Pg.192]

BCNU has been incorporated into PCPP-SA 20 80 in two different ways (10). These involve either (1) triturating the dry powdered BCNU with similarly treated polymer and pressing weighed aliquots of the mixture in a Carver press, or (2) codissolving polymer and BCNU in methylene chloride, evaporating the solvent, and pressing the resulting material as in method 1. The former method produces a soUd mixture of BCNU and polymer, while the latter method... [Pg.50]
