SAMOS systems

The reproducibility, sensitivity, and robustness of a fully online SPE and LC/PAD (SAMOS) system have been demonstrated for monitoring pesticides in surface water. The robustness of the SAMOS system was illustrated by the fact that no major problem was encountered in the course of over 1000 determinations. 

The development of online sample procedures is critically important, for with them sensitivity increases, losses are prevented, and automation is made easy, as is demonstrated by the development of the system for automated measurement of organic micropollutants in surface water (SAMOS) LC and SAMOS GC (45,46,53,54). The SAMOS LC is based on SPE sample preparation, column LC, and diode array detection (53). Moreover, all types of MS detectors for HPLC can be coupled to the SAMOS.

The [MoCCNl lHaO)] " complex, postulated by Adamson 147) and Carassiti 148), was isolated as Ag3[Mo(CN)7(H20)] and characterized by Mitra et al. 146, 149), who also postulated the formation of the [Mo(CN)7(OH)] species in basic medium. The corresponding W(IV) complex was also isolated and characterized 150). The protonation behavior of these heptacyano 151) species was first described by Samo-tus 152) and the piiCoi and p/f j values as defined in Scheme 2 have been determined as 4.82 and 9.17, respectively, for the W(IV) system. No crystallographic data have been reported for these heptacyano complexes.

The exploitation of BEWS depends on the data treatment and coordination of response measures to pollution events in order to mitigate their environmental impact, but also on the improvement in data transfer and on personal computers, the use of online chemical monitoring systems (e.g., SAMOS) being a crucial factor.
