Although many articles questioning the value of safety committees have been written, in entities where superior results are expected and achieved, safety committees are made to work. For the superior performers, it is a common practice for the management committee to also serve as a safety committee, with safety being an early item on meeting agendas. 

Site safety committees are becoming more common on larger construction projects. Outline the topics that may typically be included on the agenda of a site safety committee.

The safety, health, and environmental executive committee was formed, which was chaired by the CEO and attended by the nine general managers. This committee approved the introduction of safety standards and issued the safety and health policy. This committee met monthly, and attendance was requested by the CEO and nonattendance frowned upon. The safety department arranged the meetings, sent out the caU for agenda itans and provided input information, requested support for projects, and functioned as a secretariat to the committee. 

It is unlikely that any individual, whether it is the laboratory supervisor, safety professional, planner, or architect, will alone be sufficiently knowledgeable orhave the requisite skills to make appropriate decisions for all of the factors discussed in this section. In addition, every one of these persons wiU have their own agenda. The inclusion of emergency preparedness features should be explicitly included as one of the charges to the building or project design committee... 

Formal recall can be added as an agenda item at safety and health committee meetings or be part of the work carried out by a small group. At the end of training sessions, a five-minute recall session could be held and any near miss incidents that were noticed could be recalled by the employees attending the training session.
