The authors are grateful to the Robert A. Welch Foundation, the National Science Foundation, the Phillips Petroleum Foundation, and Haldor Topsoe A/S (Denmark) for financial support. We express our thanks to the Exxon Research and Engineering Co. for measuring the solid state NMR spectra and the Shell Development Company for the ESCA measurements. Finally, we acknowledge the participation of Dr. Zinfer R. Ismagilov in part of the cyclohexane studies. [Pg.95]

The reaction presented in Scheme 3.38 is involved in the novel [4+ 2] [3+ 2] tandem strategy for the use of nitroalkenes (42) in target organic synthesis (for details, see Section 3.4.4). Taking into account the great contribution of Prof. S. Denmark the in investigation of different aspects of this strategy, the latter can be classified as Denmark s approach. The principal aspects of [4+ 2]-cyclo-addition of nitro olefins were summarized in two fine reviews (99, 100). [Pg.462]

High-quality, pore-free microstructures of PZ - PT piezoceramic, (b) and (c), are essential for reliable, high-performance applications, e.g. composites and arrays where very small elements are cut from larger pieces (e.g. see Fig. 6.36) (d) the layer-structured bismuth titanate ferroelectric (Bi4Ti3012) Tc 650°C the crystal structure consists of perovskite layers separated by bismuth oxide layers) is exploited in high-temperature applications, including accelerometers and flow-meters (reproduced with permission of Ferroperm Piezoceramics A/S, Denmark). [Pg.381]

The step heights have magnitudes that correspond to the molecular dimensions of the lipid molecule. It is of interest to mention here that a clean graphite substrate (HOPG) does not show such step images. These studies were carried out by using a commercially available AFM (DME A/S, Denmark). [Pg.661]

After pretreatment, 8 g DM of the solid fraction (filter cakes) was mixed with 60 ml of filtrate, and the raw sample was mixed with 60 ml of water (pH 4.8) in 250-ml fermentation flasks. All experiments were done in duplicate. Liquefaction was performed at 50 °C with an enzyme (Cellubrix L) load of 15 FPU/g DM for 24 h. After cooling to room temperature, 15 FPU/g DM enzymes (Cellubrix L), 0.2 g dry commercial yeast (Malteserkors torgaer, De Danske Spritfabrikker A/S, Denmark), and 0.2 ml urea (24%) were added. The head space in the flasks was flushed with N2, and the flasks were equipped with yeast locks filled with glycerol. The flasks were then incubated at 32 °C and the amount of produced ethanol was determined as weight loss caused by CO2 off gassing. The final ethanol concentration was determined by HPLC (see Analysis Methods for further details). [Pg.537]

Both the basin modelling (PetroMod, lES GmbH, Germany) and the PVT simulation software used (PVTsim, Calsep a.s., Denmark) applied Soave-Redlich-Kwong type cubic equations of state where fluid systems were modelled at thermodynamic equilibrium. [Pg.158]
