Roofing sealants

MAJOR PRODUCT APPLICATIONS carpet underlay, shoe soles, roof sealant, roller, wheelchair tire, industrial coating, construction panel, industrial enclosures, foam boot-insert, automotive components, marine equipment, slip-resistant coatings, deck coatings, flexible mold, in-line skate wheels... [Pg.129]

Major polymer applications paints, coatings, roofing, sealants, elastomers, fibers, industrial filters, battery separators, carbon and graphite fibers, ceramics... [Pg.606]

Several sections of this chapter discuss building materials (hoses and pipes, pavement, roofing, sealants, siding, and waterproofing). Here, we focus on wall materials and insulation in various extruded and molded profiles. Numerous polymers are used for these two applications. They include polystyrene, phenolic resin, polyvinylchloride, and polyurethanes for insulation purposes and polyvinylchloride, polyurethanes, and polyesters for wall systems and structural elements. The major methods of production include molding, extrusion, and pultrusion. [Pg.786]

Talc is sold for use in a wide variety of appHcations, including paper (qv), ceramics (qv), roofing, paint (qv), plastics, mbber (qv), cosmetics (qv), pharmaceuticals (qv), adhesives (qv), sealants (qv), and animal feedstuffs (see Feeds and feed additives). In all of these appHcations it is a functional ingredient with specific beneficial properties. Talc is rarely used as a filler because it is much more expensive than alternative minerals such as limestone and clay. [Pg.301]

The hydrogenated materials have a higher maximum service temperature than the conventional SBS materials and, because of the absence of double bonds in the chain, better weathering properties. Known as SEBs these materials now find use in adhesives, sealants and roofing membrane compounds. These also find use in highly filled automotive acoustic barriers and in medical, sports and leisure applications. [Pg.298]

Ethene/propene/diene monomer rubbers (EPDM) are elastomeric terpoly-mers used in the production of sealants, tubing and gaskets and, in the USA, is used in roofing applications. As the name suggests they are prepared by the polymerization of mixtures of ethene, propene and diene monomers, to form cross-links. By far the most common diene used is 5-ethylidene-2-norbomene (ENB). [Pg.266]

To protect the control room area from incidents occurring in the support areas, the control room area should be separated from the support areas by minimum 1-hour fire-rated partition walls. All penetrations of the walls, floors, ceilings, and roof for cables, etc. should be closed with an approved sealant having a fire resistance rating of at least one-hour. Approved y4-hour rated (Class B) fire doors equipped with self-closing devices should be installed on all openings between the control room and other portions of the building. [Pg.303]

Polyethylene foam sheet is used mainly in package cushioning, and also in roof insulation and extruded profile is also used as construction sealants and pipe insulation. It is made mainly by tandem extrusion. The first extruder melts the polyethylene and blends in liquid volatile organic foaming agent. The second extruder cools it to the optimum foaming temperature, and pumps it through a die into room-temperature air, where it expands into foamed sheet. [Pg.678]
